After my regular Cafe changing owners my Bestfriend and I were left trying Cafe after Cafe for something that was affordable, delicious, homely, welcoming and close by.
Strudel's is all of those things. The food is fresh and made Daily. I like that the tables are close but not squashed it gives a friendly and comfortable vibe.
For breakfast we had "Strudel's Works" the eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon was cooked crunchy is some places and soft in others without an excess of fat. The mushrooms were Juicy and not shriveled. The toast was crunchy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside it was the perfect homemade sourdough. The avocado was very fresh.
The Apple Strudel was perfect, the pastry was so fluffy and soft and the apple was sweet and it had the slightest tang of citrus.
The Vanilla Slice was the best I've ever had so smooth, airy and creamy. It lacked the radioactive yellow look you find on cheap vanilla slices and had instead looked wholesome and had the colouring buttercream. The pastry was flakey and buttery just as it should be.
As for the little ones, my little one says the Babychino was "very Chocolatey" and she loved her smarty cookie because it also had chocolate chips in it.
Another Plus for me was the Radio playing had music from ABBA to Pink all songs most people would know. Staff were Friendly and for the duration of our stay in this Cafe every patron walked away with a smile...
Read moreA couple of months ago, my husband and I had coffee and cake at Strudel's Cafe. Unfortunately, the cake was so stale, it was inedible. I felt embarrassed but as we were leaving, I let them know anyway, thinking that it may have been an oversight on their part and they would check their display fridge. They did not offer to give us another or to refund the money (although I did not ask). We had not been there again until his morning, when I popped in quickly to buy a couple of vanilla slices, to take away, only because I was passing by and did not have much time to go elsewhere. The young girl who served me was very polite. However once at home, we encountered the same issue as before: the vanilla slices were most definitely beyond their use-by date. The pastry was soft and wet while the custard had gone hard and yellow around the four sides. Could not eat them so they went straight into the bin. There are obviously issues going on in this cafe, which should be rectified if Strudel's wants to retain their customers. They have definitely lost us, as well as many others who will now not get a recommendation to go...

I had brunch here two days ago. The experience was spoiled by issues with the bathroom.
I got trapped in the bathroom unable to get out for 5mins. Later an elderly woman got trapped and yelling for help unable to wrestle with the door lock/ handle that was clearly malfunctioning. Staff were eventually called and helped free her. Another woman soon after had great difficulty and aware of the situation so she left the door unlocked and ajar to avoid getting stuck. This was discussed amongst half of the cafe patrons impacted by this. Staff were told and assisted but did not give any reassurance this was going to be addressed.
I wrote feedback on their website feedback form and 48hours later I have still had no acknowledgment nor response.
So disappointing it feels that strudels aren’t giving any care to the safety of their patrons.
If going to strudels - I recommend you take a mobile phone or go in pairs so you can quickly seek assistance as I am not confident anything will be addressed...
