Really had very bad experience. No one attended us. It was my husband's birthday. (Thurday night) They were busy in serving 2 tables. Rest whole restaurant was empty. We waited for around 10 to 15 minutes.I was looking at the manager and staff but no response. Noone took any order.Time was 8.30/already. So we checked other Indian restaurants and luckily found another Indian restaurant closer to this one. We went there . Food was amazing with superb customer service by the manager herself.
*I can only expect such sort of response from short businesses like yours. And to make you clear about "sabotaging your reputation" is that I live in caulfield and after checking in Internet , we thought to go for your restaurant and when after seeing such ignorant behaviour we went to another restaurant which is further away from my place and it was my first time there. Well, when we entered your restaurant "we" stood there and asked one of your staff for the right place to sit . About your " disagreeing with racial behaviour" I have written what I have felt. when you push your customers to feel that sort of" racial behaviour" where you discriminate and ignore them from others then we have no choice left other than sharing our reviews here or on any other website. I think I have right to share my views and for me if you are not able to take negative comments then its a shame. I have noticed I am the first customer who has given negative feedback among few total positive reviews which forces me to think that you cant take criticism and would prefer only positive feedback to be shown to all people so that "like me" they get misguided and come to your restaurant and...
Read moreLast night I found Swaad India's Zest as I was looking for gluten free takeway. I booked in for dinner tonight. I ordered the butter chicken from the No onion No garlic menu as I am fructose intolerant. I also ordered what I thought was meant to be gluten free naan ( I am gluten intolerant as well). My husband and I shared the basmati rice. The butter chicken was flavoursome and chicken very tender. The rice was nice but nothing special. The gluten free naan was extremely disappointing-It did not even resemble nor taste anything like naan (I make my own gf naan at home). When I called last night I asked whether they made gluten free naan and I was told they did which was one of the reasons we booked the restaurant in the first place The fact there was also a dedicated no onion no garlic menu was good too (online menu-but not in restaurant yet)-even though I really could only choose chicken as the mushroom dish and the lentil dish are high in fructose. Would I eat there again? At this stage I am unsure. The waiter said he would surprise me next time, but I wonder why wasn't I surprised this time. Is it too late for surprises? Undecided.
In response to the restaurant's reply-I did add in the NOTES section of our online booking one guest will require No onion/no Garlic / Gluten free. I made it clear that this was my requirement. Perhaps you did not take note of this since nothing was mentioned when we were...
Read moreI can't tell you the amount of times I've passed this restaurant by and never gone in. After a recommendation from family, I finally gave it a go. Wowsa. So glad I did.
It was Mother's Day night, and they were busy, but the food came out in good time, and everything was spot on. It's a small place with an odd shape, but they packed a lot of people in, yet you can hear yourself think. The menu isn't too different from other Indian restaurants, but the food itself is really good.
We didn't have any entree/starter/appetiser, but straight on to mains. The butter chicken was delightful. It was flavourful, and spot on. The garlic naan actually had real garlic as opposed to garlic powder which many places use. The rice was lovely and fluffy and it all made for a wonderful meal.
Before they took the dishes away, the owner(?) asked if we loved everything, and wanted to even give us a dessert on the house, but we were too full. Then he asked about our preferences for flavour, as when we come next time, he'll choose something we might like and he'll make a little dish of it so we can try it and expand our palate. That's almost unheard of, but such good service.
The pricing is good, the parking is handy and easy, and overall, I couldn't fault it at all. It's obviously a good local neighborhood gem, but one worth making the trip to. I highly, highly...
