An elegant hidden gem tea room in Melbourne CBD! The vintage vibes of the historical building, unique teacups and furniture collected by the owners create a beautiful setting, paired with an amazing menu that leaves you spoilt for choice! Featured in video Traditional high tea ($75pp) This set features various savoury sandwiches, fresh scones and sweet cakes, with a choice of coffee or a pot of tea. I liked the sweet peach and strawberry guava tea. The scone were freshly baked and fluffy, paired well with the raspberry jam and cream. Savoury menu includes tarts with caramelized onion and feta, pumpkin and sage. I loved their refreshing classic cucumber and cream cheese sandwich! The sweet menu was right out of a fairytale! With adorable plating and amazing flavours! My favourite was the lemon tea cake! The white chocolate matcha cake had a mild matcha taste, and well balanced sweetness. I've actually been there a few times before just for takeaway coffee and have been meaning to try their afternoon tea! It was a nice experience and I would be back soon! This set is more expensive, but it's perfect for a special occasion, or a nice day out with just because flowers 🩷

I gave this high tea experience as a birthday gift to my husband and we loved it! the atmosphere was relaxing there is even a soft background music that gives the place a nice vibe, the staff was accomodating, asks for any dietary restrictions prior to giving out food, was always checking to make sure everything was ok they are also quite lovely to talk to. the food was excellent! i recommend the kiwi and berry pot of tea that was also nice! will definitely book again in the future! 19/6/24 just updating my post as me and a few friends visiting from home came here for a high tea and may I say, it was still a delightful experience. we had to move the date and Laura was so accomodating and helpful when I called and michela also assisted us in changing online. the food was delicious, the ambience was relaxing and the staff was absolutely lovely. our thanks to Laura, Arisa and Rafael for the attention to detail and wonderful service. definitely coming back again.

Went there this morning. Nice look and feel but coffee very ordinary. They had nice opera playing to add to the ambience. This made me think of the Flower Duet from LakmĆ© by Delibes - which I tried to play for my colleague. Some member of staff came up and asked me to turn down my little iPhone while I was sitting in the corner of the cafe in a very rude and officious way which absolutely shattered the whole experience. As long as you’re happy to sit there quietly and enjoy, the ambience should be fine, but don’t try doing anything that you want to do while in the place! 🤯 Update following the outright lie posted as a reply. I was asked once to turn my phone down which I did immediately. From the photo posted you can see how empty the cafe was. There was no-one near me and my colleague as we were tucked around the corner on our own…. The staff member was SO rude, and seems to have now lied to the owner about what happened…

My daughter had organised a high tea to cheer me up as I have been unwell recently. We arrived and walked in and were not greeted by anyone. until a second server directed us to our table. The place had no no w feeling. The food was subpar. The sandwiches was actually 1 sandwich cut into quarter fingers which to top it off was not fresh. They and the rolls were flavourless .The boccochini rolls completely had no taste what so ever. The quiches had an eggy smell and left a bad taste in our mouths, dry and cold. The scones were dry and hard, not at all warm. I like to know how one could justify charging that kind of price for food. All the tiny cakes were extremely sugary with little smell or flavour. Only one tea and coffee per person. For $60 per person there is no value for money at all. There were fruit flies hovering over the food and to make matters worse, there was a small mouse running around the cafe. I brought it to the attention of the waiter who did not care whatsoever. I will be reporting it to the health department as I found it not acceptable at all .

Definitely will not be returning and will be posting it on social media.

To this Brendan guy whoever you are, if you have coffee shop standards then I am sure this is right up your alley. It’s quite ironic considering you have so much to say, why can’t I find any reviews from you before this? Since you said you have been a customer for however long. I find it a little fishy if I say so myself.’ However I would appreciate it if you kept your opinions about me to yourself as I can see you have never met me for you to talk about me. It’s a thing if you want to comment on the coffee house or the food but refrain yourself from being disrespectful to a woman. As for the coffee shop owner, how I felt about finding parking has nothing to do with the quality of food you served. You yourself said that the food was already prepared. Why would you prepare it before the people arrive? How long does it take to make a minute sandwich and those smelly quiches? More so if you knew I was stressed out wouldn’t it be lovely then to have been greeted and be shown some kind hospitality? It was only after I brought to attention of the mouse did the coffee maker decide to smile and make conversation. So all in all, you guys can keep kidding yourselves. Also I think it’s time to change your cook if he has been doing this for 25 years. Maybe he has lost...

Rebuttal to Nancy Sim unkind comments yesterday. I've had the pleasure of buying coffee and cakes (handmade on the premises) since before Covid-19. All of the Staff, and owners Laura and Raf are beautiful people. Also cannot believe no one greeted Nancy when she arrived, as this certainly is not my experience as a customer. As I've been in the cafe waiting for coffee or collecting food, watching other customers arriving - everyone is greeted.

The food is exceptional and no way anything that was served would have been stale or inedible. Nonsense.

It sounds like Nancy was having a bad day.....she should not take it out on this wonderful Melbourne Cafe. Re prices, everything is expensive now. If you want quality and a lovely experience high tea at Collins Coffee House is well worth the cost. Please people don't get put off by the NS review. Re little creature, they are everywhere in the city.....it's got nothing to do with cleanliness of any premises. Re ambience you only have to read the reviews, to see NS comments are not not quite true. Shameful. This Coffee House is a gem, and much loved and supported by City people and many other devoted customers who travel in from the suburbs to experience a high standard at the lovely Collins Coffee HousešŸ„°šŸ‘Œ

You can't please everyone I guess. But the majority of customers keep returning to Collins Coffee House, for the great coffee,...
