The Footscray Hotel — Restaurant in Melbourne

Midnight. Last stop for a large group of us on a Westside pub crawl. Old mate behind the bar mentioned that the dusty blackboard food menu wasn’t available, kitchen stopped serving about 15 years ago.

I’m already 8 pints deep.

“I’ll have the Parma thanks” “Mate, the kitchen hasn’t been open for 15 years” “Yeah no worries I’ll have the sausage roll thanks”

He proceeds to headlock and wrestle me.

I laugh. He laughs. 5/5...

It's grim. People who say it has character are confused with "not a single dollar has been spent in there since 1963". There's a regular crowd that love the place. And good for them. But for anyone new first walking in, it's a rat nest of decaying furniture, mystery smells and very limited beer choices. Personally, it's a pity, as it's the closest...

Reminds me of home, just the smell when you walk into this place 🥰. Once inside you wouldn't belive that your 10min from the city.
