I’m so sorry to be honest. I’m not sure where these good reviews are coming from. We tried out tonight and the food was terrible. The hair I pulled out of the special fried rice didn’t even deter me but the food itself was slop. I guess you get what you pay for.

Bought an $8 simple vegetarian fried rice, just basically rice, peas and eggs but found an unwanted ingredient of a bug 🤢. Once was enough to buy food at this place!

We've been going to the Toy Yeon Cafe for around 20 years now. Very unpretentious, with dated decor and style, (most still dates back to the 50's and 60's), but...the food is superb, and all personally cooked by Mrs Tay and family. If it's good, tasty Asian food you're after, at very reasonable prices, you'd be silly to pass by this restaurant...

I wanted to love this place. Such a history and iconic. But the food was mush and inedible. The smell of the building smells like the food and I seriously gagged. 40 years ago this would qualify as tasty Chinese food. Now it tastes like bland food for nursing...
