The positives, I have been coming to the University Cafe for a few years, the service is always good, fast, polite and knowledgeable. Last night 4 of us met up for a meal, again the service was spot on and efficient. We ordered Lasagne, Rissoto Seafood, Pork Ragu and a Pork dish that escapes me now. The meals arrived together and the first thing I noticed was my friends Lasagna was this sloppy runny mess with no shape or structure to it, what should have been between the layers was this runny slop with sheets of pasta swimming in it. My Rissoto was also a sloppy runny mess, my friend described his Pork dish as old boots, the pork ragu was OK. All the meals except the pork dish were extremely salty, my mate commented his Lasagne was "so salty he was shocked as he loves salt" he only ate half. I ate half of my Rissoto as it was salty and sloppy. The Lasagne and Rissoto had the texture of being reheated in a Microwave. The other dishes completed but both commented on how disappointing they were. When the waiter came to clear the plates I did advise him as only part of the Lasagne was touched, that the food was way to salty. He apologised. We did not stay for coffee or desert, we went to another venue. Over all it was disappointing as we had all had good meals over history. None of us would go back in a hurry. Very...
Read moreI had a solo early dinner here tonight at just on 6.15pm. Spaghetti marinara, and a glass of delicious red wine. The pasta was yummy, with just enough tooth, and a good and reasonably generous sauce. The reason I am giving this restaurent three stars rather than four, is that I felt incredibly rushed by the staff. I had three different staff ask me about wine (I ordered a single glass which turned out to be delicious, and some sparkling water which turned out to be invisible) and then the same three came back and asked about food. And then one or another kept coming back to ask about more wine. Or dessert or coffee. And when I indicated I'd like a few more minutes between finishing a generous plate of pasta and thinking about dessert they just kept coming back every couple of minutes. Then just when I had made up my mind to order dessert, I was presented with the bill and asked to go into the next room to pay it. I put the dollars on the tray and continued to sip my wine, with the cash visible on the table. Then it was taken away and returned with my change. Overall I felt loomed over, and actually quite unwelcome, I felt as if I was being rushed the entire time. So even though the pasta was good, this...
Read moreI didn't want to give a single star.I have been to various cafes and restaurants, but I was scammed for the first time.Does the waitress need sparkling water for us?I heard that.We thought they would give us water as a free gift, but at the end and the bill, it was more expensive than the coffee we ordered and we were forced to pay $12.My friend paid for everything, but that's the worst way to do business. If you guys are told to pay $12 in the last water as well, will you be able to pay?Since we were two Asians, I think we have committed such frauds that we don't usually do.There were no customers that day and the store seemed to be free, so I thought they were trying to make even a little bit of sales from us Asians. To be honest, taking $12 for water was a fraud. Moreover, it was sparkling water that you can drink as much as you want in other restaurants. The coffee was watery, low quality and everything was horrible. It was the most...
