appalled at poor excuses for poor food served.. have had their scalloped potatoes numerous times,, if we didn't like and enjoy them wouldn't be back so many times.. yesterday 04.06.24 picked up a med container ($10) to go with dinner.. got home and of course had to have a mouthful,, and yuck,, potatoes are quite hard and some are crunchy,, trust me,, I went digging !! rang the shop to let them know, and got a young girl telling me that's how they serve them and that she's got the spoon in them right now and they're quite soft and break apart.. ok,, now I'm pissed !! I again try to explain that no,, these are quite hard,, to no avail as she's overtalking me,, I'm done,, and hang up.. option on phone to talk to manager,, left a msg to call me back,, which he did.. tried to explain what my original problem was,, to then how I was pissed about some teenager trying to school me on how scalloped potatoes should be to now him telling me while he appreciates my call that 1,, if he cooks them any longer,, so much by as a minute they will fall apart and turn to mush,, (umm good,, at least I'll eat them that way !!) 2,, he's been getting a lot of potatoes lately that won't cook down,, yep,, totally aware of that as most of us have copped them at home as well,, but my point being,, for what your usual standard is,, and it is quite high,, DON'T SERVE THE BLOODY POTATOES IF THEY'RE NOT RIGHT !! but I didn't get a chance to say that as he had that problem as well of talking over the other person so as to deflect from the problem.. so I hung up on him too,, but he was determined to tell me what he wanted and kept ringing me back till I blocked him.. nup,, sorry,, not interested in what you have to say if you're not willing to listen to what my problem is,, and that was that your product as it is,, is inferior to what you normally serve,, so don't offer it until it is back to your normal standard,, but in the meantime,, you've lost me as a customer,, which I'm sure is no big deal to you,, I'm just saying and letting...
Read moreJust attended Village birdhouse. I loved the close access from the Woolworths car park. Really cuts down the opportunity for other members of the Mt Eliza community to judge me for the assault of gravy and chicken salt I am soon to put my body through. Walking in I get a slight flutter of nerves. After all, I am stepping into the fancier of the two charcoal chicken shops in the area.
I am greeted by a young man. The female behind the counter is getting chatted up by a young man in a suit and polished black shoes who I can only presume was a real estate agent. My first thought is that I should have dressed up. Luckily the atmosphere was friendly so I ordered my food and was told it would be approximately 5 minutes. I left and went to the supermarket as I didn’t want to cramp the real estate agents style.
I returned 5 minutes later and the young man was bagging my food up. The real estate agent had set up camp at this point and and was chewing the ear off the young lady. She seemed into it so good by both of them. I just pray the real estate agent didn’t leave his Mercedes C-class running with the way fuel prices are going.
Got my food, went home. I had a chicken roll with gravy and it was delicious. Chips were expertly chicken...

Don't order the open Souvlaki - it's a rip off at $18. The meat was dry, Thick undercooked pita, lettuce with 4 tiny 'bits' of tomato and overcooked chips. After queuing to place my order the whole process took more than 20 minutes before I got my order. I queried the wait time when I finally got to place my order and was told 'there's nothing on the grill, so it wont be long'. When I did receive my order and mentioned the delay, I was laughed and sniggled at!! Disgusting customer service when I challenged them laughing at me regarding the wait time.... the answer 'let's agree to disagree' - no apology, just smirking by the 2 women behind the counter. I have ordered the charcoal chicken and chips which is good value and the best charcoal chicken I've ever had. Definitely worth $10 for 1/4 chicken & chips - delicious! After being laughed at though, sadly no more chook for me. Order in advance to...
