Absolutely love my local Woodfrog Bakery in St Kilda. Huge shoutout to the dream team of Joe, Santi, and Guy behind the counter. These guys are not only efficient, even when the place is buzzing with locals, but they always bring such positive energy that it’s impossible not to leave with a smile. Despite how popular the store is, you’re never waiting more than a couple of minutes.
The coffee is hands down the best priced and best tasting in the area. It’s consistent, smooth, and exactly what you want to kickstart your day. The bakery items are always fresh, and their brekky menu really hits the spot. There’s also some seating available, which is perfect if you want to take a moment to enjoy it all.
One thing I really miss though is the focaccia sandwich they used to do. That was the highlight of my Sundays for years, and I still think about it. Would love to see it make a comeback.
Overall, I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s the heart of the neighborhood and these guys make it...
Read moreFirst time coming after months of walking past and seeing it packed. It was a bit quiet and when we walked in we were instantly shouted at with a “whose next!” Even though we were the only people at the counter, we needed time to view the options in the window but the second someone walked in behind we were again shouted at with a “whose next” our order was taken with the response of “yep...yep where are you sitting”. Coffee came out instantly and was average and small, but when our food arrived it was slammed down on the table by the older blond lady with glasses. Nothing was said to us and she walked away, she seemed stressed and frazzled but there were literally two other tables occupied, I would hate to see what service was given when it’s actually busy. The food was amazing and this would be a five star if only the service wasn’t so bad, you only get one chance to make a first impression, I might come back to try again because the food was nice hopefully the staff seem more...
Read moreUsed to love coming here but since covid hit in 2020, service has become really average and patronage has taken a dive. Today we popped in to get some bread, croissants and danishes and every item purchased was clearly over a day old. I really don’t think it acceptable to be selling day old bread and bakery items that should be baked fresh daily that have lost their fresh, crisp crustiness at the same price.
This has happened the past few times we’ve been in so we are just going to buy the fresh Laurent bread in coles instead. They’ve also stopped making some really great menu items like the pizzas and savoury baked goods and ceased making coffees. It’s a shame because it used to be a pumping local hot spot and now it’s dead. Suggest management reevaluate some of these decisions and...
