We are in mildura for a few days. Wanted decent Italian on our last night. We have been happy at the 400 Gradi in Mornington, and decided to try the 400 Gradi in Mildura. My wife had papadella fungi. This was tasty, even though the pasta was overcooked. Certainly not al dente. However, was ok. We would not be complaining if this was the standard. I ordered and had a calzone. The last time I had a calzone was at 400 Gradi, in Mornington and it was very tasty. The calzone tonight was not very tasty. However, the calzone fillings were quite cold. As there was melted cheese on the outside, I suspect it was warmed up rather than made from scratch. We asked for the calzone to be warmed up as the fillings were cold. The waitress was suitably shocked and took it it be warmed up. She even said, do you want us to replace it? Our answer was no, just warm it up. It returned in minutes. Unfortunately, still cool. There appeared to be a man at the pass who was supervising the dishes going out and after the waitress explained the situation, he just stared at me, without making any contact. We decided to simply leave the calzone, as it was not very appetizing cold. The waitress removed the dish and was most perplexed. She tried her best but perhaps she was not empowered to say or do anything. We asked for the bill. At no stage were we offered anything to make up for the poor meal. When we left, the register people asked, how was our meal? We said what was wrong, "the calzone was cold, we asked for it to be warmed up and it came back cold again", it was taken by our waitress who then told the kitchen again. The register guy said "I'll let the chef know", which seemed useless as perhaps the chef already knew. Obviously not empowered by the owner to fix anything. It seemed a bit unreasonable to have to pay full price for a cold meal that was mostly left uneaten. As much as we appreciate there have been difficult times for restaurants, we felt we had to write a review as we had given them a number of chances during the meal to do the right thing. Avoid 400 Gradi and especially the premade and not properly warmed up calzone.
Still waiting for a response, it has been 5 days
It has now been almost two months and no further response, except to say that they will be looking into it. They did not contact me after I responded to their comments asking if they could redeem themselves. Obviously, not really interested in redeeming themselves. Poor poor service and even more lackluster response...
Read moreGreat looking restaurant, and really nice atmosphere. Love the dim lighting. Wouldn't recommend for those with kids however... seems intimate etc
Food was good but considering the price, you're always going to get a few pointers:
Kilpatrick oysters look like they've been halved and put back in the shell... once you scrape away the bacon and sauce, there's like a 5 cent piece of oyster meat in each shell
Food was seasoned well this time round, but I feel the pizzas are just a base of dough, tomato sauce, mozzarella... oven baked, then you just pop on the cold toppings, ham, olives, prosciutto etc to order depending on the order. Hence why the toppings all fall off
Yes, it's quicker to serve, but when you pay $35 for a pizza, you want it prepared fully then popped in the pizza oven etc
Great selection of drinks, although $18 for a single fosseys gin & tonic is probably reflective of current times & prices
All in all, nice restaurant saved for those with cash or a...
Read moreThe feed me menu was awesome. What a gourmet feast! We enjoyed the mozzarella cheese ball with pesto and toast slices, delicious, the pumpkin and cheese arancini smothered in a rich pumpkin sauce and the garlic focaccia which our surrounding diners wished they had ordered. Next was the mushroom aldente ribbon pasta with beautiful rich mushrooms in a sauce filled by the porchetta and mushroom on a perfect pizza base. And more....next was a herb crumed chicken snitzel, juicy and full flavoured complimented by a lettuce, oil and onion salad. We were full so we bought this dish home. To finish off we had the flourless chocolate cake with rich chocolate sauce and ice cream. Perfecto. Staff were friendly attentive and chatty, restaurant was modern, huge, with a cocktail bar, private area for large parties, clean bathrooms and a water feature. I'm happy to go again. Book...
