I wouldn't recommended this place if you have coeliacs or a gluten intolerance. I've ordered a gluten-free power burrito ($19.40 with all the fixin's bar jalapeno) here on 4 occasions because I have coeliacs, even specified it to them, and I got sick every time. I've been to Zambies in Melbourne, Adelaide, Wagga Wagga, Bendigo and Albury, ordered the same thing every time and they've all asked if I had coeliacs, used seperate ingredients and changed their gloves and spoons. Never gotten sick from it. I actually had to ask these people every time to follow basic food safety guidelines that any other Zambies is happy to do, and they still messed up! Even more annoying was the fact that I had to wait for everyone else, including people behind me in the line, to order first before they would make my food because they wanted to get through multiple orders without changing their gloves, which is a good sign that they don't change their gloves often as it is. Finally, the food itself tasted good, definitely nothing wrong with it if you can handle gluten, and the staff were reasonably polite, but the mood change when I asked for them to change their gloves made me feel like I'd insulted them. I'm a nervous dude, I don't even try to go to places that can't do GF food, and Zambies is my favourite food because they openly state a tolerance for it.
TLDR: Not for coeliacs, even in the slightest. Got sick every time, staff very obviously don't like accommodating for coeliacs. Save your bowels, go to Crust pizza instead. Never gotten...
Read moreSo today I thought I'd give Zambrero a go, I've never been there before and was looking forward to buying a beef quesidilla. I walked at in @7pm, the whole place was empty, not one person. Oh well I thought, that's o.k won't take long for my food to come then, it was a 43 degree day in Mildura. I stood there and waited whilst the one person serving must be preparing a take away. As I waited I looked around as you do.....I noticed there were flies everywhere, not one thing as far as salads were covered, flies were on everything, the meat pots had lids but not fully covered so flies were going in to the pots of mince meat. I started to feel sick as I watched a fly infestation going on before me. Before the female employee even served me I said to her....I can't believe you have no glass covers for your salads or food in general, I said I was going to buy a quesidilla but just standing here watching has turned me off, I said even subway has covers. She looked at me dumbfounded had not one word to say and I walked out. Now I understand why nobody was there. Disgusting. How hard is it to cover food, you can even buy net covers for a couple bucks. Putrid, won't be back. Looking at a past review from 10 mths ago a customer complained about flies all over the food, the owner has written he has put in more fly protection, that's a lie. I think the Health Dept should be called on...
Read moreOn 28/11, around 6 pm, I visited Zambreos with my three young kids for a quick dinner. We were greeted by a young girl who immediately said, "I'm not in a great mood, so if I'm rude to you, don't take it personally." This caught me off guard and made things a bit uncomfortable, but I tried to be understanding and replied, "I’m sorry to hear that—it’s been one of those days."
As we started ordering, my kids (aged 10, 8, and 5) were each choosing different things, which can be a bit overwhelming. Unfortunately, the staff member’s tone kept shifting from very rude to overly nice and back to rude again, which made the whole experience confusing and uncomfortable, especially for my kids. When it was time to pick drinks, I told her what we wanted, and she proceeded to whistle at my son from across the room, calling him over in a very unprofessional way to collect his drink.
Overall, the whole visit was unpleasant, and the inconsistency in service left a bad...
