We decided to have lunch in Bathurst on the way back from an amazing Christmas weekend away in Orange. We stumbled upon Nikki’s cafe as we drove through town. It was Boxing Day at noon, the cafe was buzzing so we decided join in. It was family run and I also wanted to take away some of their prize winning baked goods to take on the road.
We ordered some coffee and shared fish and chips. There were a few people ahead of us waiting for food, but given the few cafes opened on the day, we were happy to wait. We waited 25mins, the crowd cleared and most people had been served. We decided to wait a few more minutes before I decided to politely checked in with one of the ladies, she nodded and walked away to check. A few minutes later she returned with the food. I then asked if I could have some tomato sauce, and muttered under her breath as she walked away “want me to eat it for you too?”. I was astonished at this response for a multitude of reasons: We were patient and understanding of the situation There was no acknowledgment of the time we waited for a simple dish to come out Bathurst and this cafe was known for its friendliness. This proved otherwise.
Coffee and food was good. It was reasonably priced but with the customer service I received I couldn’t enjoy my food wholeheartedly. I wanted to get out of there quick - no photos of the food were taken and no baked goods to go.

Read moreWe were travelling through to Sydney from Wellington and decided to pull up at random cafe in Bathurst for breakfast. We are so glad we found Nikki’s Cafe! As soon as we walked in the door we felt comfortable and welcomed. I had poached eggs on white bread with avocado and mushrooms, with a pot of English breakfast tea to drink. Steven also had poached eggs with bacon and mushrooms and a medium flat white coffee to drink.
Omg. Yum! The eggs for the both of us were cooked perfectly!!! There’s nothing worse than an overcooked poached egg… these were the best eggs ever! They had no vinegar taste at all like we’ve had at other places. Bacon was perfectly cooked for my partner, not too soft and not too hard. The mushrooms. Wow! The best, hands down, mushrooms we have ever had. They were cooked in the most delicious sauce! I think you could even just have these on toast for breakky, they are amazing!
I’m not a coffee drinker, I love a good cuppa and this tea was beautiful, real tea leaves and a decent sized cup. Steven said on his first sip of the coffee…. Omg. This is amazing… coffee was hot and strong. It was perfect.
The chef seemed genuinely surprised when we told him how good our breakfast was. And that’s what also makes Nikki’s Cafe a special place.
We are so glad we stumbled across Nikki’s Cafe and will definitely call in again!
Thank you for our wonderful...

Definitely a 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for our family of 5. After receiving average breakfasts in the past with expensive prices and flavourless food that I cook better at home. We were all so happy and thankful for our breakfast - milkshakes, Tea and Coffee.
So delicious, the mushroom in sauce was AMAZING! and I’m not sure how you cook a tomato which makes you’re tastebuds dance but it happened here!! - with welcoming staff that are super friendly and make you feel right at home, it made our breakfast an absolute pleasure, Thankyou xx
The kids loved their pancakes and my daughter asked for pasta for breakfast and it wasn’t a problem!! Freshly cooked spaghetti bolagnaise for breakfast and it was the best we’ve ever tasted !!
The coffee was hot, great taste and was like a big hug to my soul xx
Definitely going back for breakfast tomorrow morning and at anytime we are passing through Bathurst
The gorgeous garden on the way to the loo was...
