We called in on a quite weeknight for a quick bite to eat. We were surprised at the newly renovated dining area. It looked and felt very spacious and comfortable with its chandeliers and new wooden spaced out dining tables. The floor coverings helped to drown out the ambient pub noise to a very comfortable level. The staff also provided excellent service... The crumbed lamb cutlets were amongst the best I have had in a while... Prices are reasonable with specials of good value. Unfortunately the pub is situated in a heavy residential area so the parking situation could be a problem. I also noted that the pub does not accept 'tap n pay' which i must say would be the only pub that i know of that does not accept this type of payment. Apart from that we had a great night... RECENTLY
We had 4 pubs in mind for Sunday Lunch, Fortunately the Cricketers won the vote. Since last we were there not a great deal has changed in the decor. The dining area still looks very inviting, clean and spacious. After enjoying a local red we all decided on different ordering different food. it all turned up in a reasonable time and as before, as we all agreed, it was sensational.... the selection was great and the staff fantastic. A great Sunday Arvo was had by all... I recommend you give it a go... October 2019 It was one of those fantastic Sunday spring mornings when my sister rang and asked if we were doing anything for lunch today,.... i said to her that I had oysters in mind, Just a light lunch with a dozen or so succulent juicy plump natural oysters.... It was only a few weeks ago we took a drive, covering 200 km down the countryside looking for oysters... So we agreed to give someone local a go, we decided to meet at the Cricketers at midday. Well what can i say, Garry made sure our dreams came true... there they were on the specials menu, some of the best Pacific ousters you will taste !!! When they came out accompanied with a loaf of 'home made' just baked, crunchy damper garlic bread, all my expectations were met !!! it was sensational.. and to boot, all the other's enjoyed their food as well... a great Sunday arvo, thanks to the staff and management. After being cooped up most of the week in a Dialysis Clinic, this was quite an enjoyable day... Oh i must add here that the environment and the large expanse of the new dining areas, are very comfortable and the tables spaced out so your not on top of each other or the next table... very appealing and recommended...
June 2020.... If you are looking for probably the tastiest Sunday Pork Roast with Crispy Pork Crackling, you really cant go past Julie's Kitchen at the Cricketers, combined with a cold beer of your choice or a bottle of fine red ... either way its worth the trip in there on a...
Read moreThis is a really lovely pub its a real shame that the staff we encountered (but one young man )let it down, as soon as we walked in the door there was a negative energy from the barmaid and another woman who seemed to be the manager, we walked out the back and had a drink and a very nice male staff member came over and lit the gas heater as it was quite cold he said there was a bit of a gas smell although we didn't notice so it didn't bother us but then it did become quite strong so we turned it off, my partner went and asked the young man could we have a different one(as there were many not being used )and he asked the female manager which I saw myself and she just brushed him off and to add insult to injury a little later she personally put a heater at a table of people who were eating , we then tried lighting it again and it was just leaking and too dangerous so we and another couple just stayed cold, and to add insult to injury some locals came and sat at our table and we mentioned it one of them went in and the heater was swapped immediately what a shame you treat visitors to your hotel like that would never go back its was just rude and a negative environment I hope this is read by the female manager she needs to really check her abilities as a manager to treat...
Read moreWe ate here on Mothers day 2021. It was a great idea to take my mother for dinner, although turned out to be quite a disappointment. The venue in general is quite nice and the bar service was friendly. The big let down was the food. Items by description on the menu, were completely different when served. The slow cooked spaghetti bolognese was simply dehydrated ground beef, lost in spaghetti with absolutely no sauce or flavour. The ragu was similarly disappointing and certainly didn't qualify as ragu. Infact, from our table of six, it was only the Chicken parmigiana recipient who was satisfied. Prices were relatively high and quality was incredibly low. The service staff didn't enquire during or after our meal, as to how everything was and suspect they were aware that they were serving up substandard food. Also worth noting that we waited almost an hour for food to be served. Happy to wait when the food is good. We will not return here for a meal, however I would be happy to enjoy a drink at the...
