I’ve previously ordered the smashed avo but without the sourdough, and asked if I could simply swap the sourdough for an extra egg instead, same price, but was told I’d have to pay full PLUS the extra egg which felt unreasonable for such a small adjustment. The juices are said to be made fresh daily, but they don’t taste entirely fresh.
Despite this, I still occasionally order due to the convenient location. However, I recently came in at 2:50 p.m. (closing time is 3 p.m.) and was told I couldn’t order a chai latte because the coffee machine was already shut. There were no other customers around, and since a chai latte doesn’t require espresso, it felt unnecessarily strict.
Overall, the taste and experience don’t quite justify the price.
UPDATE: I really appreciate the staff member who initially turned me away for the chai latte took the time to approach me and apologise. He was genuinely apologetic and took ownership and accountability, which I value in any...
Read moreI stopped by Coffee Man while I was visiting family in Darwin and had one of the best coffees I’ve had up here. It’s located on Mitchell Street in the city and they’re open Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3 pm and Saturdays until 2 pm. Closed on Sundays.
They serve specialty coffee using Five Senses beans and the baristas know how to make the perfect cup! My coffee was spot on and I had a delicious toastie to go with it; simple and tasty:)
This is actually my sister’s go to café in the city and now I totally get why she loves it. I can understand why it’s her regular spot. There’s limited outdoor seating with a few spots to sit out the front. The staff are amazing-friendly, quick and just really lovely.
They also do juices, smoothies and a few other café style bites if you’re after something light. I’ll definitely be back when I’m...

This is clearly a regular haunt for locals, as I witnessed workers stop to pick up a coffee, and parents bringing their kids before school to grab an iced drink. I ordered a large coffee and the granola - the latter was comparatively small and in a takeaway plastic container, but was surprisingly tasty. The coffee was excellent. With modest prices and cheery baristas and staff, this might be one of Darwin's little hidden gems - provided you don't need to sit in...
