Food at Miller and Baker is very good but too many times I have left disappointed. If you go after 11.30am they will not have any traditional bread left and have run out of most items, this has happened to me on multiple occasions that I just can't be bothered going anymore. Another time I went in to get a toasted sandwich but noticed the fridge door was left open (not sure how long for) so I didn't bother. Today I went early to get some bread because of that but I couldn't get any parking at all and had to go elsewhere. It's a great place for food but seems to struggle to keep up with the demand, go early if you don't want to be disappointed.
Updating to 1 star, went again today early in the morning, raining so limited seating but planned to dine in, when walking in there was half the seats available at the big table, but people who hadn't ordered behind us yet came in and took all the seats. Had to change our order to take away and just leave disappointed yet-again as the little morning date I had planned was ruined. Wish I'd cancelled the order and just went to Lady Annie instead. I braved the thronging collection of the Cool Hyde park collective enjoying Saturday morning bites and coffee. Entering a bright busy and cheery venue. In front was a lady forming pastries. I really enjoyed the way she pulled each precisely cut and thick sized panel , stretched and formed into precise rolls of dough ready for baking.
I got to the counter, to the left of me fresh bread sandwiched - all tempting , and in front a ray of croissants , scrolls , rolls etc....I selected the croissant and Almondine. when I went back to work poured myself a cup of instant black ripped open the brown packed, I knew I was in for a treat .
On inspection of the super almond silver encrusted Almondine. It was good . The croissant equally good. Both well priced and I can say I was well pleased.
As always Hana's love the artisanal qualities presented, the local energy and of course, dedicated craft on show.
