As Irish pubs go, the best ever pub food I have had. We stayed in the nearby Club Tropical Resort and there got a voucher for 20% off at Paddy’s for food+drink, so we decided to go and investigate this pub on our first evening in Port Douglas. We ordered the salt and chilli ribs which arrived cooked to perfection, the meat easily sliding off the bone, served with a really tasty Asian style teriyaki-like sauce. So we came back the next night to check out other things on the menu. The entree section of the menu has lots of interesting things on, we had the same ribs again, and also the BBQ chicken wings, popcorn chicken and calamari rings. Calamari and chicken were very nice, but not exceptional, whereas the bbq wings were the absolute perfection, done in a yummy bbq glaze, and served with a chive and sour cream dip. So we decided to return the next night again, to have the ribs and bbq wings again, which happened to be on a pub quiz night, so we had lots of fun taking part in that. Beer wise, there is not a very large selection of beers on tap, they’ve got Guinness, then there is Wild Yak Pacific Ale and the Classic and Super Crisp lagers form Great Northern brewery. I think there was more selection available as bottles, but we did not investigate further. Overall, a really good pub, and the food was fantastic. Good music too, and a fairly spacious outside seating are....
Read moreWas at the pub for a few after work and Friday night drinks while we were waiting for our daughter (15) to finish work at another local business. She finishes at 8pm, she makes the walks up to Paddy's and got to us at about 8:05pm. She tried to walk up the stairs to be told she can't get in as she doesn't have id. She called us and we were sitting on the bench outside. I go get her and she then is again refused entry because she still doesn't have id. I say she is with me and we are just sitting over there the young girl on the door said "kitchen closed no entry". So I wait with her on the bench while her dad finishes his drink. While we are waiting a young guy walks up and walks in she does pull him up and he said he is going to sit with his dad then he walks in. I go up and say you let that boy in. Her comment was he is going to be with his dad. I then say she is my daughter and to make me even more mad for that fact it's only 8:15 and not a lot of people in the pub she asks me if I'm sure she is my daughter 😱 Yes I'm sure. She then said we can go in but MUST be out by 9. I said na we will not bother. I will not be going back at all. All other pubs Iv been to say no kids after 9. I was expecting that as we were just finishing the last drink then going but to be treated like that...
Read moreMixed feelings about this place. Last week I was in Port Douglas with my family (8 people in total including two young kids). We went to Paddys the Friday and Sunday nights. Friday night was great. Food came out pretty quickly and most of us enjoyed our meals (beef Guinness pie was incredible). Because we enjoyed it so much we returned on the Sunday for Father's Day and my Dad's birthday combined. We ordered about 6.15pm and the food started coming out almost an hour later! My brother-in-law enquired at the 45 min mark and was told the food was on its way. The table next to us had ordered about 20 mins after and were receiving their food at the same time. We felt like we had been forgotten and none of the staff seemed to care at all. My Dad was quite upset and asked a staff member about it and her reaction was just to make excuses - "Sundays are busy" (false; there weren't that many people dining at that time and everyone else was drinking) and shrugged her shoulders etc. Didn't even offer an apology. I'm not sure if there was a different chef on that night or what happened. The parmie I had was a bit overdone, my BIL's burger was average, and yeah it just left a sour taste in the mouth when it should have been a great evening. I would hesitate...
