I went to dine solo and asked if I could sit down. The woman asked me what table and I told her and she said grab a menu and sit down.

I perused the menu and made my decision and sat while. Finally she came back around and told me I had to order at the counter. Ok, why not just tell me before I sat down to order?

The food came out quickly. I ordered Aloo Ghobi and plain naan. The naan was very hot to the touch, so I only took a little piece to let it cool. I grabbed a bite with the naan and wasn’t sure about the flavor, it seemed something was lacking and I asked for medium spice level. I was famished so continued eating and kept thinking that something was off. I make this dish at home so I am familiar with the spice/flavor profile. I finally decided to try the main course without the naan and it was amazing. The lack was from The naan and to me it wasn’t fully cooked.

I took the remaining naan back to the counter and asked for them to toss back on the grill since it had a doughy taste. They did end up brining me a fresh new piece and I could tell it was cooked to perfection since it fluffed up and pulled apart.

This place does allow you to BYOB so grab your favorite beer or wine around the corner before...

Not the best takeaway experience tonight. Was given wrong dish and staying far enough away from town it was not worth coming back to fix. Pity, because the food is obviously cooked well and very tasty.

Asked for the chicken tikka salad but was advised it was not available. Ordered a chicken tikka entree instead. Which came with all the ingredients of the chicken tikka salad... So that was confusing. The tikka itself was tasty and generous in serving, but a little dry as breast was used.

Ordered a hot goat curry on the bone and a prawn malabar. When I dished up at home, instead of the goat, somehow got a mild boneless chicken curry. Very disappointed as I was looking forward to the goat. However, the chicken curry was very, very nice so waste not want not. Probably was mixed up on the docket with the tikka entree.

Prawn Malabar was tasty enough, but with just six small prawns did not represent great value.

The naan bread and rice were good and soaked up the delicious sauces.

If only they had taken care to get the meal order right and provided what was on the menu (or remove it from the menu), this could have been a five...

We wanted to support this business, we thought by looking at the staff its a family run authentic home cooking...we overlooked the decor because it's really bad as it's about the food! But unfortunately it didn't improve there :-( flavours were not balanced, too strong and mish mashed, very thick and rich. Not nice flavours. Not Moorish and rich like we would expect. The beef was like eating cubes of silverside, rubbery and gross and our vegetables dish was frozen vegetables, tasteless, squishy and watery. We had three spoons of food, lady owner noticed and ask if everything was OK! We gave feedback but she couldn't back up our accusations and had nothing to say to us, not even any sympathy or offers to make us a happy customer. We walked away having to justify in our own minds that we gave that family a $50 donation. Glad we weren't buying a banquet of food. I know my food, this is not made fresh, not made with love and passion and it shows. It's actually uneditable... I should of known better as there was no Indian aroma's coming from the...

Worst and unfortunately the only Indian place in Port Douglas. This is an experience of two Indian families visiting PD for holidays. Denied food on our faces. After paying money and getting a confirmation from the restaurant that they have accepted our online order, when we rocked up to pick up food, they said we haven't accepted the order. Assuming there may have been a communication error, when we tried to order food at the restaurant, they asked us to wait for 15 minutes because they were very busy. After waiting there for 15 minutes and observing that they are very happily servicing their "preferred" crowd we were told, SORRY NO FOOD FOR YOU WE ARE BUSY". Obviously the staff is overworked and in poor condition where they were sweating like anything. Wonder if their sweat makes it way to the food they serve. Kind of hard to imagine why it wouldn't. Would like to see if other patrons have had similar experience. Two thumbs down. DONT GO HERE

We were a group of nine and with almost every restaurant in Port Douglas fully booked, we felt incredibly fortunate to stumble upon this hidden gem. The curries were absolutely sensational—packed with flavour, perfectly balanced, and clearly made with care and tradition. What made the experience even more special was seeing this small, family-run business in action. Mum, dad, son, and daughter all working together seamlessly, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home. I’ve eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants over the years, but the recipes here really stand out—authentic, rich, and deeply satisfying. We had a fantastic night and I’d highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable meal in Port Douglas.

We were in Cairns for a holiday and as usual looking for traditional Indian food. Every time we walked past this restaurant it was busy with locals and tourists and we were keen to try it out this lovely family owned restaurant. The food was fresh and very delicous. The lady who was taking the order and looking after the restaurant gave us different choices and even suggested mild curries for the kids. The service was exceptional. We ordered Palak Paneer, dal makhani, garlic bread and butter milk. All the items ordered were made to perfection with the north indian touch. The ambience was ok but food surely compensated for the ambience. I would highly recommend locals and tourists to try out this lovely place in Port Douglas.
