The Special Beef Pho was very tasty but the Lemongrass Pork Chop was tastier!
The Pho for me was not as good in comparison with those we have in Cabramatta or Blacktown but it is certainly better than most of the places closer to or in Sydney CBD. A big plus is that they don’t use too much MSG! So no immense thirstiness and dry mouth for me.
There is certainly room for improvement. For example, the holy basil and bean sprouts was a tiny plate. The basil was a small sprig of about 10 small leaves, while not wilted, they were all already turning black or have black speckles on their tips. I couldn’t have any.
The staff were friendly and efficient. It was a nice change for a cheap and cheerful night as there is not many cheap restaurants in Port Douglas.
It would have been a more enjoyable experience though and I would have given a four star to Viet Pho, if not because of the long wait for our food. The kitchen seemed to be short of staff and not coping. They could only be able to bring out two dishes at a time at an interval of about 10 minutes. I can see both the tables next to us which has four diners, two of them had their food delivered, and the other two much later. Most of the diners seemed to be waiting for their food and losing patience.
I hope they keep up the good work and that they will still be here our next visit, with much...
Read morePoor. Two entrees and two mains ordered. After 15 mins waitress came out snd said one of the entrees was unavailable and would I like something else. Chose chicken skewers as you can't really go wrong with those. Well it turned out you can. Wife's entrée came out soon after and I was waiting, and waiting. Wife finished, plate cleared away and I was still waiting. Then wifes main came out. Asked what happened to my entree and "so sorry, I find out". Lo and behold my entree then came out at the same time as my main. Sent the skewers back - too late. Both mains were oily and tasteless. Service was next to useless and there's no beer to make up for it. Not worth...
Read moreThe staff were extremely friendly and accomodating. Loved the atmosphere and situated in good spot off the Main Street. This is second visit in two days. The Bahn-mi was hot and fresh, ordered a vegan one with vegan mayo however they use a different type of roll than usual but didn’t taste bad! The fried rice couldn’t be made without egg as it was pre-made which is disappointing. Limited to only being able to order the vegetarian stir fry which was quite bland and not interesting. Could do with a sauce. Also a take away container is additional $$$ fyi. Would recommend for Bahn-mi but not much...
