Our hostess was really trying, she was welcoming and cheery, it was nice to see. However, our drinks were not brought to our table & we had to remind the hostess of what we ordered and were waiting on. Once our drinks came- mine a martini had a hair in it, I’m not overly fussy about this and just took it out and relied on the sharpness of the alcohol to rectify, however my husbands margarita never arrived. We also had to ask a 2nd time for our bottle of wine, which was disputed between staff in front of us as to what we we ordered and when it was bought to our table not opened, tasted or served to us (it was a delightful French Pinot noir) opened and poured unexpectedly by ourselves. Our food was delivered very disjointed with our bread arriving a good 20 mins before any of our other starters. The kids meals (pasta and pizza) were lovely, kids devoured these with gusto. Our meals- pork belly and sirloin (that arrived as a scotch… serving a butcher never helps with a last minute cut pivot). Steak was ordered as a medium rare- served as a med/well (inedible to a steak enthusiast). Pork belly was described as being served with a pumpkin mash, I wish I took a picture of the 1/2 teaspoon serving of pumpkin mash and an array of almost seeming frozen veg as this too was inedible.
When paying, I had asked my husband to just pay; however he told me that if they asked he would say what was wrong. They did ask- however when explaining why he and I did not eat our mains a phone call came through and he waived him off with our receipt of $230. I’m not 1 for a bad review if I can rectify the issue from the source, but this was never an option sadly. Will never be back, and unfortunately just another “do not return” for our PMQ restaurants. Surely we can do...
Read moreShort: Great service, but I cannot recommend the beef burger at all, for the same money, you'll find quality far and above at many other burger places in Port.
Long: Upon first entering, the service seemed manic but friendly. And they managed to squeeze a table in for us, though it was extremely busy. And I can say, the service remained very nice and professional despite just how busy they were.
But, the food... I had the Beera beef burger. First impression, was that there was a chunk taken out of the crown of the bun (which was clearly not fresh), for what reason, I do not know. The veges were on the very edge of still usable, and though the bacon was crispy, the beef, was clearly not fresh beef mince. One thing I haven't experienced in a burger in a long time, is a sauce that didn't work, but the sauce, really did not work.
I always get the burger if they make one, upon first trying a restaurant. My logic is that it is such a basic dish, that samples most basic aspects of a restaurants performance. Freshness of ingredience and simple good cooking, is all that is required. And if you can't get that right, I will go no further.
The Beera beef burger was $21, which is at a price point above that of other craft burger places around Port, that put out burgers of a standard that are in a whole different league.
I commend Beera's service team, but the burger, it needs a...
Read moreI'm giving the general review a 1 because of the manager/owner (not sure who she was) attitude with the waiter that served us. When we wanted to leave my husband went to the counter to pay and this person told the waiter in front of my husband that he had to be alert when people want to pay. She was very disrespectful with the guy that served us. He was very good and kind and it was not that we were giving signs of wanting to pay or anything, my husband went to the counter because we thought that payments were taken there. And even if we were giving signs and we had to go to the counter because he was not paying attention, it is not professional or of good manners to talk to him like that in front of customers. Food average. Atmosphere average as well. The restaurant was empty that's why we ended up there. Our usual restaurant was full and similar with others...
