I really loved dining here. My husband and I got the Dégustation option which is a great way to sample 5 different dishes from their menu. The normal Dégustation menu is seafood based, however as I am allergic, the chef was able to accommodate this for me, swapping out the scallops with pork belly instead.
The flavours of each of the dishes had great depth and each was well presented, and the price worked out really well. As someone who enjoys cooking, it really excited me with the different methods for presentation for the flavours and the food. We entered at 6:30 and all 5 dishes were plated, served and finished by 7:45pm. The initial two plates took a little longer to come out, but once we hit the 3rd plate, the meals came out very fast.
The restaurant is well laid out, with tables arranged along the windows so you can dine alongside the sunset overlooking the river, or closer into the restaurant with soft lighting to have a very relaxed atmosphere. There is also a partitioned area for those who wish to do corporate dinners and want to have that separation from others in the restaurant.
Staff are extremely friendly and polite, coming and checking in on you throughout your meal. Each meal that is brought out, the staff also explain the ingredients and highlights of each dish so you know what to look for when you are savouring the tastes. They have a great selection of wines to choose from and a range of great cocktails.
Accessibility is good - the restaurant is located up a set of stairs, however there is a elevator available for those who are using a walking frame or wheelchair. Toilets unfortunately are only located on the bottom level though.
There is very limited parking at the front - only a handful of parks, and most of the parking near the adjacent building is normally full, but there are paid parking options on Palmer St which is only a 3 minute walk away.
All in all, this was a lovely dining experience and I do recommend it for anyone looking for a...
Read moreMy wife and I had the great pleasure of experiencing a fabulous selection of impeccably prepared culinary delights from the 5-course degustation menu. From the moment you opened the entrance door you are greeted by an array of attentive staff that look happy to make your evening [or other event] an enjoyable and very memorable experience. They are polite, not over bearing and listen to the needs [and wants] of the customer. The restaurant was full and we observed a couple of tables had multiple sittings. The Novel Corona Virus 2019 did impose social distancing and extra layers of separation and registration but not to the point of detracting from the evening. Q-Code Scan was effective, but I wonder about the viability of the National COVIDSafe App … perhaps I’ll leave that for another discussion elsewhere. The food was outstanding with a broad selection of flavours and aromas that would satisfy even the most discerning of taste buds. We had a chance to experience many delicacies that we would not normally venture to order as entrees and/or mains. Definitely far too difficult to pick our favourites. All dishes were unique and yet complimented each making the whole experience truly memorable and hopefully not the last opportunity. We both look forward to our next visit to this fine dining restaurant, to once again place ourselves in the hands of the wonderful people that had made this so enjoyable. If I could give them a higher rating I would. Thank you. Regards Mike...
Read moreWent to the wine bar for dinner on a Saturday night with 5 other friends. Ordered a selection of cocktails and drinks and entrees and mains. A portion of the drinks came out and some of the entrees. A main unexpectedly came out while we were still waiting for entrees and some of the drinks. We eventually asked the waiting staff to take the main back to the kitchen until all the drinks and entrees had come out for it to come out with the other mains. After an hour of waiting we asked the waiter where our main dishes were and the remaining entrees. They explained that it was busy upstairs, so even though we were paying the same price for food as the upstairs restaurant, we were getting substandard service. When our mains and the remaining entrees came out they had lost one of the main orders and then said that it would be another 30 mins without any compensation (complimentary coffee etc). We cancelled that meal and they graciously offered to refund us the meal that we never received! Overall, the waiting was terrible: plonking drinks that belonged to one person down the other end of the table rather than placing it near them. The whole place needs a review of table service OR if you are unable to appropriately service the tables in the wine bar perhaps you should not be offering food service to these tables. The food was delicious but the service terrible. This is a...
