If you're a fan of Japanese Yakiniku, you know how delightful it can be to find an authentic Japanese Yakiniku Restaurant in your city. It's truly a joy. That's how I felt when I visited “Riki Yakiniku” in Cairns. Chef Jason trained for a decade in Osaka as a Yakiniku Chef and served high-quality Japanese BBQ standards. We savoured Wagyu marble 5 and 9 meat, beef tongue, and beef in the bone, and each dish was delicious. We also enjoyed the prawn tempura, seaweed, and miso, all equally delectable. And to complete our meal, we relished some refreshing Japanese green tea ice cream. This is the restaurant if you're looking for an authentic Japanese BBQ experience. It comes highly recommended! 😋😋😋 We came back to Cairns for our second vacation. We must ensure that we dine at Riki again. Not only once, but we had three dinners. Each time, we truly enjoyed it. The food standards are among the best Yakiniku that I have tried. It is a MUST TRY Japanese BBQ in Cairns!

Great food, really nice and excellent staff. My favorite Takoyaki balls only had Avery small bit of octopus, but they were really tasty, I rate Japanese restaurants on how their Takoyaki is. This was a 4/5 only because of the amount of meat inside, otherwise they were really soft and fluffy with great flavours (maybe I was just spoilt before). The restaurant is a Bbq style, so it was a bit smoky, but that didn't bother me. It was the ordinary location, and ordinary seating etc.. that made me give it an atmosphere score of 3 (maybe it might have been a 2). But did I mention the super nice staff. That alone made the atmosphere lift alot. Alittle pricy, but I was full, so maybe that's ok. Well done! Great place.

We went on weekday but unfortunately waygu beef all sold out . So we left without dining in but surprisely the next day (Friday)we received a msg from the restaurant said the waygu beef had stock up do we wanna to book in (good communication and service) We order sashimi ,Saba(grilled fish),tempura as entree to start with Than BBQ section we order waygu beef set menu(worth it,not expensive),plus extra crocodile meat, pork neck(yum),beef tounge (so tender)must try! For 4 of us,we walk out with a very full tummy, dint expect the serve was big👍 Owner(Jason) ,a big cheerful guy and also a great chef too.👍👍👍 Tip:before booking ,give them a call to check ✅ waygu beef available or not.

This isn't a fair review for a bbq restaurant because we didn't have the bbq.

We came here for my birthday dinner as it was a place that we've walked passed many times but never went in.

So we thought we'd give it a go.

Before the meal we got a confirmation SMS to confirm time and number of ppl. That was a nice touch and helped avoid a mistake in booking. Off to a good start.

Wonderful reception, friendly staff on arrival, tick.

Two small fish tanks with fish that are afraid of ppl i.e not domesticated. My son had 30mins of joy just moving the fish around by simply walking from one end of the tank to the other. Tick.

Waitress was upbeat and friendly. Tick.

Food portion is big. We didn't manage to finish all that we ordered which is unusual.

Food taste is standard. Not amazing out of this world, just standard.

We may have to come back to try the...

Perfect. Menu was really interesting and everything we ordered was really fresh. We had the king sushimi platter and it was very fresh, generous size and well prepared. We had the BBQ special set which was a really good mix of tastes and good quality meat. The kids had udon, gyōza and takoyaki and ate it all without complaint. Restaurant had good vibe. No horrible noise or music. Our kids were treated very politely and extra bowls and things provided quickly when we needed. Chef and waitress looked like a husband wife team and they worked the restaurant well despite it being just the two of them. Nice touches like fresh wet towels was lovely after being out in the city. Nice sake. Good drinks menu. Will definately add this place to the...
