Christmas Eve Eve lunch. 20-ish loose-ish cannons at a work outing. We all wait and question when is the appropriate time to leave. When is it my shout? Will anyone notice if I leave before my round? It's a lot of pressure that none of us really know how to handle, other than with more beer. The food here - it's pub food. The steaks are overcooked. The parmis - large. The large parmis are great, never a bad one. Chicken truly is the bread and butter of the Irish. Good enough to make the Grinch happy (pictured). Sirloin steak on special. Sirloin. Of the steaks, it's the least desirable. However. It's christmas and both my wallet and my belt are tight and for a saving of 10 or so dollars, I will accept a second-tier cut. Not to roast my own potatoes, I like to think I am somewhat of a Wiley young fox when it comes to steaks. Always order 1 tier rarer than what you want. Ask for rare and get perfect medium-rare. Bank on the overcooking. My big question mark - why so much salad? With everything? It's a salad with a side of steak. Decidedly not the natural order of things. My mission, my purpose in life is to invert this ratio. So far, this mission, not going so well, but we keep on keeping on - such is the spirit of Christmas.

I organised for a group to have lunch at The Irish on 22/9/24. Everyone of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and are all keen to go back again to enjoy the food, great atmosphere, and get looked after really well by the friendly staff. I would like to make special mention of staff member Shannon’s efficiency, friendliness, and professionalism..thank you so much Shannon for all your help in organising our gathering at The Irish.

The food was good in general. I felt disappointed and misled by the chicken parmi though – it was made with BBQ sauce, but the menu failed to mention this even though it is against the norm. On the other hand, the chips were well-seasoned, and the sweet potato garnish was tasty and interesting (coming from someone who doesn't usually like sweet potato). The service was quite quick. The environment was loud.

The Irish Club is a relaxed, casual place for a hearty home-style lunch. A traditional Irish pub with a spacious bistro area, it’s great for catching up with friends - and the menu has something for all. I chose the ‘small’ serve of rissoles with mashed potatoes, pumpkin & steamed vege. Others in my group had chicken pie, bangers and mash, crumbed fish and a toasted chicken and Camembert sandwich that all looked scrumptious. My meal was huge, delicious and there were lashings of gravy over that delicious rissole - a sumptuous meal indeed. There were certainly no complaints from anyone at our large table of ten. It’s a bistro so while you do have to line up to order at the counter, the service was great. The wait staff were very pleasant taking the order, and then attentive during the meal as you’d hope for at a good Irish establishment. I had no trouble securing street parking right outside too- 2 hours free parking so there was no need to rush the lunch. This was my first visit to The Irish Club Hotel in Toowoomba but I’ll be heading back with family to enjoy another meal soon. A...

I have been here for food 3 times in the last two weeks. Had been recommending this place to everyone. However went there for lunch on Sunday and left pretty unhappy. When we ordered and only after making payment we questioned the total. It was at that point we were told there was an additional $1 charge for takeaway meals and also there was a surcharge for Sunday meals.

None of this information was displayed on the menu or on any signs around the establishment to inform of the additional charges. Food took awhile to come out and wasn't overly busy.

Food quality was good. Love the...
