Great little restaurant hidden away in Rivervale, off the Great Eastern Highway.
The wife was craving some Korean Fried Chicken on Boxing Day, and a number of locations were closed, and we didn't want to eat at a franchise restaurant, so after some hunting around, we found this little store.
Though it was a 30 minute drive from home, it was definitely worth the wait. They had unique Korean dishes that we haven't eaten anywhere else in the state, namely the cheese balls, and they also sold some other typical Korean food, but we were here for the fried chicken. Price-wise, they might be on the high end for something, but for the size portion, I would believe that it sits more value for money compared with the franchise alternatives.
We ordered the original and soy and garlic flavours, which all came in chicken wings as well as some boneless options. The cooking time was reasonable, where we didn't need to wait too long, but then again, it was a quiet time of the day as we came in early for dinner.
The taste overall was relatively good, in terms of Korean fried chicken. The sizing of the chicken was reasonable, and they had the usual items available to eat and dispose of your chicken bones. The wife really enjoyed the food and was happy to have eaten here. She believes it was even better than some of other alternative restaurants which she wanted to eat at on this day, but unfortunately was closed.
In terms of the layout of the restaurant, it was clean and simple. The store used classic electronics to decorate the store such as cassettes, an old radio, vinyl record player and music systems, and to add a bit of flare to the walls, they used classic styled posters. It wasn't over the top and a nice touch to the store.
Would we come here again? If we wanted Korean fried chicken and wanted to drive the distance, then yes. There are at least 10 other similar stores closer to home, so we need to try them all out first before we can name a clear winner, but for the interim, this store is definitely one of the better ones out...
Read moreMy family and I were visiting Perth and made a quick search for halal food nearby. We found this place and gave it a go.
My first impression on this place is it is very clean, tidy and has a nice vibe to it. I accidentally took a peek into the kitchen behind the curtains and was amazed by the cleanliness and tidiness. The tables for customers were clean, and the floor was also clean.
The are many dishes on the menu but we decided to go with the classic korean dish, Boneless Soy Garlic. We're very surprised by the quality of the food! It was very fresh, perfectly seasoned, nice sweetness to the sauce. We're lucky we ordered whole 800g because it was just nice for the 4 of us. When the food came, we were unsure it we can finish all of it, the portion was huge!
The staffs too were very friendly and helpful when we wanted to make our order. She clarified my questions and concerns before i made my order and she is always smiling when attending to us.
This place also has a little corner with an old table radio(if I'm not mistaken), an old rotary telephone, and lots of selfie props to take pictures which I find cute. My kids were busy at this corner which is a good thing.
Overall a pleasant experience here and we will definitely come again if we visit Perth!
Thank you...
Read moreCute casual cafe style. Not very big so take away is an option but waiting for a table would be much better. Myself and husband went for our 1st time. We were not disappointed. Staff were so lovely and friendly even giving me some options to try and recommendations. We ordered the chicken combo boneless we had a choice of 2 flavours (was recommend a sweet and salty style) and chose Mango chilli and snowing cheese. They arrived in big large chunks so nicely cooked and potato tots. We also ordered 2 dipping sauces- creamy and sweet chill and the cheese balls. Well food come out all at the same time and was so good. Chicken tender. The Mango chill was sweet with a very slight heat as it is on the mild side for heat. The snowing cheese chicken was very nice and packed with snowing cheese I personally thought the coating made it a little dry but this paired with the almost plum tasting sweet chilli sauce was amazing! The creamy sauce was almost a yoghurt tangy sweet onion style and still nice but preferred the sweet chilli and Mango. The cheese balls were amazing I would go back just for them alone. Will happily return...
