I was going to go into this place with my partner but as we walked around the corner I had a staff member literally yell at me, asking if I was going to be long because parking is only for them and the post office. I responded and said to her we are coming back and that it would only be a minute at Darrington (literally 50 steps) and asked whether she asked every single customer parking where they were going. The lady, in an agressive tone, said yes and continued that she 'wanted to make sure people could read the sign'. It says parking is 15 minutes for customers of the Deli and Post Office. Needless to say we didn't feel like spending any of our money there. We've been there before. People sit on their cars for an hour eating away. The food is not exactly worth a review. We left of course. A witness came over and said she was appalled by how the staff approached us. Never putting a dime into this place but I will definitely be using the post office. Sometimes the queue there takes half an hour or more. I have never recalled being harrassed about parking there nor seen anyone else approached in such manner. I suggest the shops pay a parking attendant and charge for parking but do not harrass people before they have even entered your shop.
As for the owners response to my review:
NEVER STEPPING FOOT AGAIN. UNCALLED FOR AND UNPROFESSIONAL
I went to the post office section of the store recently to mail some items to my family overseas. The nice lady behind the counter asked me to pack the items (using packing materials from the store which I was prepared to pay for) and fill up a form before she could post them for me. While I was doing that I also grabbed some birthday cards from the shop to include in the mail. After packing everything in the box, as I stood in the queue to pay for them at the counter, a tall man (I suspect he was the manager or owner) approached me and asked to look into the box as he suspected I took the cards without paying for them (I was still in the queue to pay for everything I was holding). When he saw the cards he immediately accuses me of stealing the cards and asked me to leave and to never come back. I insisted he take back the items I was holding (as I didn’t want to leave the store without paying for the items) and he tore them apart.
Deeply disappointed as to why he didn’t wait until I got to the counter to see what I was going to pay for first or at least given me the opportunity to explain. I left without arguing as I felt it was unnecessary would have made the scene bigger than it already was. It was really embarrassing as well as there were a number of people in the store.
Went to the Australia post in Vic Park the next day, took the exact same items and did the exact same thing of putting everything in the box and I managed to pay for everything and walked out without being accused of stealing. I’ve never stolen anything in my life and don’t intend to. Especially birthday cards!
But safe to say my family and I will never be going...

No , you are wrong . It's even worse now. There is nothing on the shelves and what happened to the gift section!? it used to be the best part about the store. It's gradually become less and less soon there will be nothing . . The food is actually gross now , even the dishes that youve always had . I wont be going there anymore and I have done for 20 years. Still sad. Sorry
Like it couldn't get any worse. You say wow surprising you have so many 5 star reviews but I'd say those are from when the place was actually run well before you owned it. I had to go there the other night and your drinks atnt even cold lol. I said to your extremely rude staff the drinks arnt even cold he said yeah it's because of the weather ...um what ? Bring back the old owners, the great food, the happy friendly staff and the incredible gift section. You have...
