Tomo Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Subiaco

A casual place to enjoy some good & freshly prepared meals.

My son & I got there early evening last Saturday around 5.30pm.

Venue is small, felt more like a lunch bar rather than a restaurant. The lady behind the counter was friendly & allowed us to choose any available table after handing us some menus to look at.

A few tables are occupied by families enjoying early dinner. After deciding what we wanted, I proceeded to order over the counter & paid.

We ordered the following :

FRESH SALMON SASHIMI (9PCS) $24

CHICKEN KARAAGE CURRY bite-sized Japanese deep fried chicken & curry on rice $20.50

PLAIN UDON udon noodle & savory broth $14.50

Food came out in good time & were freshly prepared & cooked. Serving sizes were also generous & filling. Everything tasted great & we were happy. With drinks, our bill totaled to around $65.

We got takeaway from here today and it was so good that all 3 generations were raving at the dinner table. We got the kaisen sashimi don, the chicken karrage don and beef yaki udon.

Kaisen sashimi don - so fresh. High quality sashimi on beautifully seasoned rice with a colourful array of pickles. It was really authentic and reminded me of the sashimi don I’ve had in Japan.

Chicken Karrage don - was just yum. Crispy and tender made extra yum with the egg and sweet/savoury soy mixture on rice.

Beef yaki udon - this was quite a wet noodle dish but very very tasty with generous servings of beef and bonito flakes.

I visited Tomo with my husband and my son for dinner. I had Fresh salmon Don, my husband had teriyaki salmon and my son had beef Yankiudon. My husband enjoyed his meal very much. My son did too but it was a bit salty for him. And there was not much vegetables in. Only grated carrots were in... My dish was very colourful and presented very beautifully. I enjoyed it but it was salty for me too. There were many different kinds of pickles. And no vegetable. I would enjoy more if there was vegetable on rather than pickles.
