Backstreet Cafe — Restaurant in Sunshine Coast Regional

Based on the rating of this Cafe, we decided to go out of our way and drive 35 minutes and spend an additional 15 minutes to find parking, to try it out.

When we arrived at 12:45pm (Sunday) we noticed a staff member packing up all the tables and chairs. We inquired as to why they were closing early, as Google showed their trading hours to 2:30pm, only to be told that they only open until 12:30pm on Sunday, and it has been that way for a long time!!!

My suggestion to the owner, if you are going to alter your trading hours and not have a dedicated website as a way to inform people, then you should make sure that you update the information everywhere else. Google shows open until 2:30pm, Facebook 4:30pm and Tripadvisor 1:00pm. It's like playing bingo!!

Backstreet Cafe is conveniently situated on the esplanade at one of the entry/exit points of Mantra Mooloolaba. For parking, you have several options: on the street along the esplanade, at the shopping area behind with Coles, or underneath Mantra, provided there are available spots at the time of your visit.

The pricing is incredibly reasonable, especially considering the prime location with stunning views of the esplanade, beach, and water!

Service was relatively quick. You’re seated at a table with water and a menu, and when you’re ready to order, you simply head to the counter to place your order and pay—there's no card surcharge!

Drinks arrived after a short wait, followed closely by the food. Both the food and drinks were excellent, but it was truly the location and ambiance of the morning that made the experience...

When looking for a breakfast place we found the backstreet cafe, the reviews seemed amazing and we were excited to try it. We got to the cafe, ordered- smashed avo and two poached eggs, our food swiftly came. The poached eggs were alright same as the avo smash. This really disappointed us as we thought the meal was going to be great- of course it was alright but it didn’t meet our hopes. We also ordered coffee after our meal which came in paper cups we aren’t quite sure why- environmental reasons?
