A pretty average suburban bar and bistro.
The North Annandale Hotel is a pretty standard self-service bistro. The bar towards the front of the building is the main entrance to the hotel, with a spacious layout and relaxed suburban feel. It goes nicely with the beautiful historic buildings in the area, and the general environment around Annandale.
Being self service, you must line up at the counter outside the kitchen to be served. They offer a small variety of meals, but overall have a reasonably appreciable menu involving the usual pub favourites (steaks, burgers, schnitzels etc). The meals come out of the kitchen in quick order and are, again, of pretty average local bistro quality. For a menu like this one, which is well priced and well positioned to the market it serves, the food is really not bad at all. You won't be salivating about your next visit, but likewise, you won't be going home hungry.
The bar out the front is quite nice. The large roomy area makes it a comfortable place to stay and down a few amber elixirs, on comfy lounge seats. The location is also ideal, right near everything else Annandale...
Read moreWow, what a below average pub. I'm shocked that venues like this still exist in Annandale. Won't be going back.
Went for a raffle night (Thursday). The bloke who runs the raffle is an absolute flog and is so rude. He spent the whole raffle trying to put on a show for one group of regulars (who were also a group of loud flogs), and he let their group push in to buy half the raffle tickets so it sold out and no one else could buy tickets. Was honestly awkward for everyone else. It's like they don't want other guests in the pub. I heard another table of locals say the raffle is genuinely rigged for that same table too! The raffle money also goes to the pub and not a charity which is also weird.
The staff are all 14 year olds with no customer care. It's like some sort of sad daycare where one old weird bloke is looking after a bunch of kids, but you also get served undercooked, very overpriced food.
The one positive is the lady serving in the kitchen who is lovely. Possibly two different operations. Food is...
Read moreWe came today for Mother's day. We got there just after 12pm and it was not too busy. We took a seat, ordered our meals and half way through the mains, we were approached by a staff member asking if we'd booked and I said "No". There were was a family that had arrived for their reservation and no tables were available. I explained that the table did not have a RESERVED sign on it, so that's why we were seated there. We happily said we'd move, but he said that he had no where to put us. And he acted quite rudely to us and I have to say we weren't made to feel very welcome at all. They seemed to be very disorganised. My main meal of salmon was way overpriced at $28 and it only came with a salad that was covered in some chilli sauce, which I couldn't even eat. The best part of the meal was the desserts, but once again was looked at disapprovingly by the male staff member as it seemed we were taking up more time...sorry, won't be...
