This place could be smashing it if they change the way they operate it. Its quite busy right now as unfortunately its the only decent looking cafe in the Children West Meat hospital. Back in Sydney to dine in a fancy looking cafe u would pay around maximum 15$ for a massive bacon and egg roll with avocado. Here for 9$ you would expect a bit better than just an over priced Mcdonalds b&e. To be honest Mcdonalds does a better job for $4.5. Right after order i would expect them to cook it for at least 5 mins before the food was out on the table. It only takes them literally and i swear im not making this up, less than 60 seconds. Bacon was tough and chewy like chewing gum n it was explained that they use beef bacon so fair enough. Mayb cook it a little longer so its not as raw and chewy. Theres an egg of which looks like it has been premade and all they had to do was to heat it up. Egg was well done so its impossible to cook it well done in less than 60s. Must be pre-cook. I hope the owner does give a damn about his business because this feed back is my only way to reach out to u. Honestly, ur cafe has so much potential being in one of the busiest hospital in NSW and u have zero competitor here.

This is a place I have been observing for some years now, but only actually became a customer today because where we usually eat was closed. The service is friendly and fast, table service. The meals are delicious and fresh. The coffe is fantastic, as in top 1% of coffee I have tasted, not that I am a connoisseur, but I do like my coffe as ordered whisk is hot and strong. Something for everyone, vegetarian people and carnivores too and obviously a reasonable kids menu as it is situated in the childrens hospital at Westmead. Clean eating areas, well stocked tables with rock salt and cracked pepper. Plenty of sugar and sweeteners. Table water not a problem and I even saw a customer get served ice with her table water. Accomodating and friendly business. Lots of cakes too and fresh juices. Eat in or take away.

The only benefit this place has to offer is location and convenience. Got 2 mumma breakie burgers. Says 2 patties but comes with 1. Asked why and was told they made the patty bigger. I said no issue but update the mangled menus. Wait staff said she had been asking for a while to update?! It's stealing! And false advertising as it sounds like they're fully aware! Manager didn't have the guts to address the issue and still over charged me! Unfortunate as the waitress was good and the food was decent. Coffee average as machine needs regular flush or changed the seal!

Angry kitchen staff should be fired.

Ordered food yesterday and experienced a hostile and angry approach from a kitchen staff (male dark skin). All we wanted was a wrap with no chips and to add a side of vegetables. I ordered a chicken parmigiana with salad and vegetables. Apparently this order caused enormous anger and rage from this abusive kitchen hand who stormed out to tell us this was not possible and that rudely that he would do us a “favour” once. It was not so much what was said but the angry tone and feeling like it could lead to violence. The manner in which he spoke was absolutely appalling and I can only imagine how he speaks to the wait staff that must regularly deal with his anger and abusive manner. The waitress then came back again (about the fourth or fifth conversation now over what is a simple straight forwarded order) to tell me I couldn’t have vegetables with my chicken. I pointed out I ordered straight from the menu which states it comes with two out of four possible sides and to show me the menu of how my order isn’t possible. We eventually received our average food as ordered but the whole experience was disgusting given our son is in hospital with an unidentified brain issue.

  1. the food was average at best and certainly overpriced, but then being in a hospital customers are held captive to lack of choice.

  2. the anger and hostility is completely unacceptable and that kitchen hand should be fired for the well-being of other staff and to prevent other customers receiving similar treatment.

  3. given this cafe is located inside children’s hospital where many customers are parents of sick children makes the entire angry demeanor of that kitchen hand, who’s food is average at best, all the more unacceptable.

Also forgot to mention, we offered to pay more for what we wanted to order. This issue had nothing to do with cost. This angry man said “it’s not about the cost”. Really, it’s not about cost? You’re a business who’s only objective is to make a return. What an abusive idiot. Making a plate of food is not rocket science. Such conduct in the CBD would result in closure very quickly as no customer would tolerate being spoken to in such...

Hello, Myself and my sister Samantha were long term patients both in hospital and outpatients of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead for about 20 years each with having multiple medical issues that is part of our rare genetic skin condition Netherton’s Syndrome and not also not part of it we use to come down here sometimes 3 times a week and

We loved coming to have lunch or dinner in the Bear Brassiere but thankfully all the staff were always polite and friendly to us each and every time we were able to visit this restaurant obviously yes it can be expensive but at least the food and service was wonderful and we need more restaurants like in all our NSW Health District Hospitals , They would even be more than happy to sell me a cup of milk, i’am sorry to hear some of the reviewers here have had unpleasant experiences with the staff ,

They must have some new staff members working both in the back kitchen and front of restaurant now as we have not actually technically been here since sister was a outpatient on visits since 2012 and I transitioned in 2009 to adult care at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle and miss the beautiful caring and professional and friendly staff that we are very happy to call our second family here at Westmead very much and look forward to seeing you again soon ( 14th November 2019 ) I will try really hard to come for a visit and grab a cold milk from the staff , I hope the friendly service is the same as seven years ago,

Till we meet again GoodLuck and all the best .

🤗 Kind Regards Aimee Stromeier ( former Paediatric inpatient / outpatient CHW ) From...
