This was such a disappointing experience having visited when they first opened and raved quite highly about the place.
The food was great but the general customer service was beyond poor, bordering on laughable. We asked if we could see the manager about booking a birthday party at the venue and were prepared to come back as they were busy, but was told if we waited 5 minutes we could talk to him.
We decided to eat while we waited and getting place at table 13 should of been the omen sign of things to come.
Our order was taken and was told "I will come back with some water for the table" (which never arrived).
My coffee arrived and I asked for sugar, which really should be on the tables or on the cup anyway, so the wait person returned with what turned out to be pepper!!! I had to walk to the counter to point out the error but as they were busy was still fine to overlook the mistake.
Our food arrived and I had to call back the waitperson again to request something as basic as "cutlery".
We had been at the venue now for 45 minutes and did the manager come to talk to us, so of course my wife and I decided that if this was the standard of customer service on a normal day, we would not be risking it on a special occasion booking.
To be fair, the food was excellent and the ambience is stunning, but table service was beyond a joke and the manager should have asked us to come back rather than ignore us like that, so now I have to fine an alternate venue as they obviously don't need our...
Read moreThe location here is quite nice- beautiful old sandstone buildings.
There were several issues with our midweek trip that prevented me from rating this higher.
The QR code ordering system was down so I ordered at the counter. Not a big deal as I prefer not using QR code ordering anyway.
Service was incredibly slow despite there being few customers and at least two waitstaff in addition to kitchen staff. When lunch time hit and it was a bit busier it seemed they were down to one person taking orders, making coffee and waiting tables because for some reason that was when one of the waitstaff decided to take a lunch break.
Coffees- when they came out- were one at a time with several minutes in between. They were nice, though, and had a fruity note to them.
The food might have been good had it come out before it got cold. It sat under what I can only assume was supposed to be a heat lamp for the better part of 10 minutes while wait staff ignored it. The heat lamp somehow managed to heat the plate but not the food, leaving it close to room temperature which for a burger, chips and bacon and egg roll that we ordere is not a great eating temperature.
The playlist was quite good, although the music was louder than it should have been inside to allow comfortable conversation.
I would go back and give it another try- it’s possible they had an ‘off’ day or new, as-yet...
Read moreWent to the Café as part of a search for a venue for our upcoming function and decided to try out the lunch menu. I asked the waiter if he could please help us and clear one of the outdoor tables which had been unoccupied for a few minutes so we waited for him next to the table to return and 10min later he came back with two other customers to sit them at the same table we had been waiting to be cleaned :) The Chef was called to give us some information regarding the events at the Café however he was not very informative or knowledgeable and a tad rushed. He did provide us with an email address for our queries so that was ok. When the food came I was shocked to realise midway through my burger that it was completely raw at the center; this is a high health risk for me as a pregnant woman. It also tasted funny as if the patty had been boiled before set on the grill or speed-defrosted into a microwave. Apparently you can get a simple burger wrong so how can you be trusted to cater for an event? When we addressed this with the service staff she offered us a coffee instead of doing the right thing and applying a refund so we just left disgusted. Not going back there again despite the venue itself being charming and the...
