We dined at Misc on a Saturday evening and can easily say that it was one of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time.
We were warmly greeted by the lovely Dev who was our host for the evening and were taken to our table that was overlooking Parramatta Park on a gorgeous Sydney evening. Dev was very friendly, attentive while being non-intrusive, well versed with the menu, and her recommendations were on point. Service-wise, absolutely flawless and really made our night all the more enjoyable.
Ambience-wise, the restaurant was intimately decorated with tasteful decor and a stylish, vibrant, vibe. Unintrusive music was gently playing in the background which added to the atmosphere but quiet enough to have an easy conversation. It really was a pleasant pleasant place to relax, enjoy the outdoor ambience and delicious food.
Foodwise, this place was just wow! Everything that we tried was cooked to perfection, beautifully presented and a party for our taste buds.
For entrees, we started with the Wood-fired Pita Bread with Black Garlic and Truffle Butter, Prawn Toast with Yuzu, Beef Tartare served on a warm Hash Brown, the Octopus Carpaccio and the Baked Conchigli A La Vodka with Mozzarella and Parmesan crumb.
The pita bread was fresh, warm and perfect for mopping up the well balanced black garlic and truffle butter.
The prawn toast was to die for and was beautifully presented, wasn't oily, the flavours were well-balanced with flavoursome prawn enhanced with the citrusy yuzu on a delicate, crispy toast.
The beef tartare on the hash was a bite sized portion but big on flavour and freshness. The beef was high grade and melt in the mouth delicousness, served up on a light, crunchy hash brown.
The Octopus Carpacchio was a generous portion of beautifully fresh, tender octopus, fresh, delicately sliced cucumber slices, vibrant citrus flavours all combined to capture the essence of summer. It was a delight to eat and wonderfully refreshing.
The Baked Conchigli A La Vodka with Mozzarella and Parmesan crumb was rich, moreish and a much larger portion than I was expecting. So many wonderful textures with the tender pasta, soft, gooey mozzarella and the crunch of the crumb. This would be perfect for a cool evening because this dish left a wonderfully warm, full, comfortable feeling in the belly.
For mains we had the Wagyu 400g Sirloin special, the Roasted Half Chicken with miso butter, served with sides of Chips with Crack Salt and Cos Lettuce with Dill and Vinegarette.
The wagyu was an absolute star, perfectly cooked to a medium rare, oh so tender, flavoursome and juicy and literally just melted in the mouth. This was one of the best Wagyu's we have ever eaten and we have eaten at a number of specialist steak houses and grills over the years in Australia and overseas. To think that we would be sharing this experience in Parramatta Park was just mind blowing.
The roast chicken was packed full of flavour, really juicy and tender and the miso butter gave it a lovely umami kick. The chips were fresh, crispy on the outside and pillowly soft and fluffy on the inside. The Cos lettuce was fresh and surpisingly the amount of fresh dill that was generously sprinkled over the top was not overpowering at all. The freshness of the salad broke up the richness of the meats which was nice.
For dessert, we chose the summer pavlova and the pistachio creme. The pavlova was light, creamy, refreshing and the perfect end to a summery Sydney evening. The pistachio creme had the texture of a panna cotta, was rich with a wonderful, natural pistachio flavour. While we were enjoying our desserts, we did observe other tables that had ordered the tiramisu. Our host Dev said that the home made Tiramisu was to die for and judging by the decadent dessert portions we could see being generously dealt out by the staff from circular glass dishes directly to the diner's plates I know I HAVE to order this next time.
So a very big thank you to Dev and the staff at MISC. for providing us with our most memorable dining experience in...
Read moreWent out on a weekend dinner and discovered Misc. by word of mouth. I Definetly had to book and try it out with friends the next time we went to Parramatta.
The Atmosphere from the get go felt nice and cozy with a little mello vibe provided by the music of the live dj. 9/10
The Service wasn't really up to scratch to start off the night. We were greeted as expected, However when it came to ordering and receiving our food it was completely miscalculated and forgotten about. Dishes came out at different times rather than almost together, the drinks were accidentally served twice and some of the food served was wrong.
We called for assistance and waited, once we got a waiters attention they seemed to brush us off as they had to serve other tables. At one point those tables received their food before our guests who were still waiting on their original order.
By the time we had a waitress assist us they realised that our dishes weren't served and instantly realised the mistake. The food had to be preped again and served much later.
The waitress did feel very bad and apologised multiple times for the inconvenience and despite this issue there was a recovery with the service. They waived the charges of our drinks and desserts for the entire night and the dishes that were wrongfully served was voided. I understand things can happen and we were patient at the time. I was happy to see the recovery from a really bad situation. 8.5/10
Beef Tartare The Dish overall was okay overall. The dish mixed together well throughout. Seasoning was great. The Fried Flat Bread gave great texture. The Cured Egg Yolk made it nice and creamy. 8/10
Burrata Personally this Dish wasn't my favourite of the night. The Burrata was pretty standard, it was nice and creamy. The Tomato Fondue didn't come off too enjoyable. The Aged Balsamic gave a nice touch of acidity too. 6/10
Grilled Calimari The Grilled Calimari was the dish that was server when it wasn't ordered due to the service issue. Overall it wasn't really good, the texture wasn't really enjoyable. The Zough that was served didn't really help it much neither. 6.5/10
Duck Fat Roast Potatoes The Duck Fat Roast Potatoes was very good, they were nice and crispy on the outside and nice and fluffy on the inside. Perfectly seasoned and they were nice to enjoy. 9/10
Chips They were as good as expected, nicely salted, they were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. 9/10
300g Striploin The portion was genorious, cooked medium rare perfectly. Seasoning had a nice a pop of flavour and it had a very good crust. The Peppercorn Sauce had a very good kick as expected and gave a right amount of creaminess it that made it addicting. 8/10
Lamb Shoulder The Lamb Shoulder was a star. The Meat fell right off the bone, well seasoned. The Zhug was a great touch, Chilli's gave a nice kick. I appreciated the Saj Bread being placed at the bottom to soak up all the juices to make the dish whole. 9/10
Desserts
Banoffee Banana The Banoffee was absolutely delicious. The great texture from the Pasty was on point. The thin caramelised slices of Banana was also good. The Chantilly was nice and charred and still a bit creamy. The star on the dish was the White Miso Caramel it was stunning. Overall it was an enjoyable dessert. 9.5/10
Tiramisu Mascarpone Mouse By far it was the best Tiramisu that I've had, everything was exactly as it needed to be and they served a lot of it too due to compensation of the service issue. It wasn't heavy at all, it was nice and light. I would definitely recommend to get this Tiramisu. 10/10
My overall experience was an interesting one at Misc. Despite the initial issue with the Service, I am Definetly looking forward to coming back very soon to try other things on the menu. Most of the food was good, but the desserts were even better. The service did recover in the end and the rest of us did end up enjoying the night.
Total Score: 8.8/10 Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 8.5/10 Food: 7.9/10 Dessert:...
Read moreI found this place on TikTok and heard it was the western Sydney version of tottis, honestly it’s even better than tottis. I came with my parents, my sister and her family to celebrate my sisters birthday.
My nephew and mum has allergies and our waitress Paula triple checked for us that the dish didn’t have sesame even though we were suspicious it was that another waitress told us it did but Paula went back to the kitchen 3 times to confirm it didn’t, afterwards the other waitress informed us the menu changed and originally the octopus did have sesame which my nephew was allergic to but with Paula taking such good care of us we had no issues.
She also recommended a cocktail for my mum and my mum absolutely loved it.
The food was overall delicious and the portion sizes were great for our family to share all around.
Only let down was the focaccia which was a little dry so I would stick to the wood fire bread.
The tomatoes were delicious because it came in a variety of different tomatoes like sun dried and big slices and small cherry tomatoes.
The octopus was a big win, it was so good, but crispy but also soft unlike a lot of other octopus I have had where it’s tough.
We got the crab and tomato pasta, would recommend but we didn’t try the lamb and instead got the lamb shoulder. It was good but I preferred the Pasta, would definitely try the other mains they have
The beef tartare was also a crowd favourite my sister said it was one of the best beef tartare she has had and she loves beef tartare, I personally would of liked it with a bit less sauce mixed in but overall still loved it
I would of loved to eat more zucchini flowers but couldn’t justify the cost with how much you get but I do understand the price and can’t complain
Would of liked to try the calamari but allergies with family couldn’t have it
I would also try the scallop ceviche next time I go as I didn’t get to try it this time
Lamb shoulder a half portion is already big I would like to try the striploin or the snapper next time
The chips were delicious, IDK but it was so crispy and just the right amount of soft potato in the middle, best chips ever
The banoffee was good but not amazing I have had better banoffee but still good.
The crème brûlée however was a crowd favourite, it was a bit firmer in texture less gelatinous as most crème brûlée is served in a dish or bowl but it held itself up being on a plate, loved the texture and flavour the passionfruit was defiiitely very tart
10/10 would come again
But heads up the internet service isn’t the best as it’s in a park but food and vibe overall amazing
Would bring my friends and you don’t expect something like this in a park
Usually with tottis you mainly go for the bread and not really the pasta or dessert
Here you come for everything
Forgot to add, they saw that my sisters baby and nephew was cold and one of them gave us a blanket
Service here amazing (didn’t catch name of other server helping us every now and then not sure if floor manager)
Paula however our waitress took such...
