Cafe Abercrombie Darlington — Restaurant in Sydney

Let me start by saying, I never write reviews. But this place genuinely baffled me to the point where I cannot be silent. This cafe is always busy, so naturally, I assumed that the place would be nice. You walk in and all you see is mess. Coffee grains everywhere, milk stains on the counter and a dirty coffee machine. I understand that the place is busy and understaffed, so there might not be time to tidy up. But the thing that got me the most was the barista himself. He was very nice, greeted me and acknowledged me. However, his hands were wet and stained with chocolate powder, touching all cups and lids without wiping his hands. He was wiping surfaces with his fingers to clean, and frankly the whole situation completely grossed me out. He handed me my cup, and it was completely stained with his brown chocolate fingerprints. Wow what can I say... beautiful people creating beautiful food and atmosphere. I have had the Turkish panini and the bacon and egg roll and both were perfect also the juice and hot chocolate were great. The gentleman at the front of house that does all the beverages and service is an amazing guy, always happy and engages in conversation with all his customers having laughs, chats and remembers all his regulars orders as they walk in. The kitchen staff even came out with a treat for a dog of one of the regulars. This cafe is the perfect place to relax and enjoy great conversation with a warm welcoming atmosphere, it's also great if you're wanting a quick coffee and snack as the gentleman at the front of house is so quick at his job, this place runs like a well oiled machine. I visited at 7.30am on a a Saturday morning and was met by a friendly, helpful owner. He was happy to make me a BRAT (Bacon, Rocket,Avocado and Tomato) roll, which was delicious.

He whistled as he worked, despite the heat, and cheerfully responded to one of his regulars who hailed him with the line "Good morning, princess" 😂.

I was the only customer at the time, and this place may get noisy, but I like it here. I'll return if I can next time...
