Deli 14 Cafe in Redfern is a hidden gem, a sanctuary for those seeking not only exceptional drinks but also a vibrant atmosphere that feeds the soul. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a symphony of aromas and a visual feast of captivating artwork adorning the walls, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience.

Let's start with the drinks – where do I even begin? Their coffee is undoubtedly the star of the show, boasting a rich, velvety texture and a bold flavor profile that tantalizes the taste buds with each sip. Whether you're a purist who prefers a classic espresso or someone who enjoys a creamy latte, Deli 14 Cafe delivers perfection in every cup. And let's not forget their iced lattes – a refreshing indulgence that provides the perfect respite on a warm day.

But the delights don't stop there. Their hot chocolate is a decadent treat, a velvety concoction that envelops you in warmth and comfort with every sip. It's the kind of drink that brings back fond childhood memories while simultaneously elevating your adult palate to new heights.

Now, let's talk ambiance. Deli 14 Cafe is more than just a place to grab a drink – it's a haven for art enthusiasts, a sanctuary where creativity flourishes and inspiration abounds. The walls are adorned with an eclectic array of artwork, each piece telling its own unique story and inviting you to lose yourself in its beauty. It's a space where every corner holds a new discovery, where the energy of the art mingles with the buzz of conversation to create an atmosphere that is nothing short of magical.

And then there's the staff – courteous, attentive, and passionate about what they do. From the moment you place your order to the last lingering sip of your drink, you're made to feel like a valued guest, welcomed with open arms and genuine warmth. It's evident that they take pride in their craft, and their dedication shines through in every aspect of the experience.

In conclusion, Deli 14 Cafe is more than just a cafe – it's a destination, a sanctuary, a little slice of heaven tucked away in the heart of Redfern. Whether you're a coffee connoisseur, an art lover, or simply someone in search of a warm welcome and a great drink, this is the place for you. Trust me, once you've experienced the magic of Deli 14 Cafe, you'll find yourself coming back...

In Filipino Culture, food is exorcised as a love letter to the guests, the consumers—the hungry mouths that the cook should have such the pleasure of serving their food to. It is the nature of this culture’s cuisine that restaurants within Sydney’s fabric have been, historically, few and far across the dine-out diaspora. If you ever asked a Pinoy over the past twenty years, where the best place to eat “Filo Food” out is, they’d likely reply “my place”. Secondary to this is a suburban supermarket specialising in Pinoy imported groceries and a selection of Bain Marie dishes.

In the last 8 odd years, Filipino flavours have risen to promjnence within Sydney’s street food and particularly Western Sydney vendor scene. Analogues of famous fast foods, such as Jolibee have been translated into food trucks and pop ups. And the juggernaut of various sweet makers—Ube merchants—combined with bakeries and even brunch fusion offerings. Taguan is the newest opening, tackling cafe fare with a combo of mod and tradition. The menu is a lot simpler than their contemporaries – toasties using classic sourdough but with Pinoy flavours, bakes in a similar fashion, but with main dish options that pull straight from home cooking.

We went in for lunch and ordered the Adobos (choice of either pork or chicken) and the Beef Pares. Adobo is one of the most iconic marinades of stewed protein dishes worldwide. A simmered and stewed meat dish steeped in a little oil, a lot of soy sauce, vinegar and garlic. All that soaks into the fibers of the meat breaking it down to tender and gives an extremely deep and aromatic flavour that’s not too heavy as it’s cut by the vinegar inclusion. When paired especially with atchara (Pinoy pickled veg), it’s a tummy and soul pleasing combination of salt, sour and fatty umami. The beef pares is a soupier offering of a similar flavour profile, touched with more herbaciousness (star anise) and makes sense with a wet egg over a hard boiled one. Sitting on the side of the street amongst the commotion of Redfern, Sydney’s Main Street makes eating real Filo home cooking feel correct… like you’re the guest at the Taguan (translates to “hideaway”...

5 stars mostly go to the lovely staff at this little French cafe. LOCATION: 5 or so minutes walk from the train station and a couple of minutes from nearby bus stops. This cafe is admittedly in a dodgy area of Sydney, you'll see other places boarded up that indicate this but in part it's what I love about this location: it's got a lot of life to it. FOOD: Really simple menu best enjoyed by/served to those who eat gluten. Think really reasonably priced yummy sandwiches/croissants and danishes etc. They do have a vegan bowl though and a couple of vegan options. STAFF: Super friendly, they made a mistake which admittedly was a tad more serious for me but were extremely apologetic and turned around and made a new sandwich for me, in the loveliest way possible. I cannot recommend the 2 of them enough. They clearly have care and passion for what they do and I wish them the very best. If you're gf, the toasties just kinda end up paper thin. They mentioned that they were thinking of getting other gf bread, I'd happily pay a few dollars more for wholegreens SOURDOUGH or nonies charcoal bread etc. Appreciate that there aren't a lot of gf folks in the area though. So rate this place highly either way. ACCESSIBILITY: Ground level allowed for wheelchair, pram, walker access etc and chairs and tables outside mean it's also perfect for those with dog/s. Note: No toilet in cafe. Closest is at the brewery across the road. OVERALL: Highly recommend, would go back if I was in the area. The coffee...

Came on a Friday bunch time, nice small cozy place even when situated on a busy street.. Food was served warm & in a timely manner. I loved the choc-nut coffee served in a cutre cup. Because we are Filos, my husband expected more rice in his adobo, yet we understand cafe is located in the inner west, so it will be wasteful to add too much rice on their plates. We are happy to pay for extra rice. Will come back!
