Cafe Milligram Birkenhead Point — Restaurant in Sydney

Ordered the fish and chips and vegetarian falafel burger. To make sure it is vegetarian we asked how it would be cooked. The falafel burger is cooked on the same grill as the meat, flipped with the same utensils. I asked if they can do it in a seperate pan with clean utensils and they said yes. While watching them cook it they used the same meat spatula to flip the burger. If we weren’t watching we wouldn’t have realised it was contaminated until after my partner bit into it. The chips are also cooked in the same fryer as the fish is also making it not vegetarian.

For meat eaters - The fish and chips were okay, the fish batter was too thick and undercooked inside but the fish itself was fine. The chips were salted well.

The server on was very polite and apologetic, she offered to get it made again uncontaminated but we didn’t want to risk it. She was apologetic and we received a refund and she tried offering one of the pastries, we appreciated her effort in trying to make the experience better.

Offers vegetarian food but not...

I don’t think this cafe is deserving of the bad rap that they have from google reviewers. I usually hate any kind of cafe in a commercial centre that’s doing the kind of numbers they are, because the food and service are usually a let down, but honestly, I was very pleasantly surprised. I was lucky to get a table, it was pretty busy as it was right before lunch when I dined, but there was one space left outside. I chose the ham eggs Benedict, the hollandaise was a real hollandaise, two eggs poached well, and plenty of smokey ham and well seasoned kale in place of spinach. We also had the Cuban sandwich (they were out of pork, but offered to replace it with chicken), which was perfectly acceptable, and not a disappointment whatsoever, we had one juice and one coffee, both well made. The drinks came out very quickly, which was amazing because they really were very busy, and the food followed shortly after. It was $45 for two, given the location, I feel that’s pretty fair! Worst dining experience! I ordered salmon sandwich and I paid for it. 5mins later, I was called to come and see the barista (I had no idea why)! He told me that they don’t have salmon so they can’t make the sandwich. I told him that I’ve paid for it.He then looked at another staff, which I assume the chef and told me that he will make it. I went back to my table. 2 mins later, another staff member brought an iced latte. I told her that I ordered ice coffee. She took it back and brought me another coffee with ice cream on top. I told her that I did not order this one either. I want what I ordered, which was an iced coffee. She was so rude and told me that she already brought it to me and I told her that it was not mine!
