It pains me to write this review as Ecco was until now one of my favourite Italian restaurants. My husband and I enjoyed meals regularly with various friends. We came here not only for the wonderful food, but for the sophisticated and relaxing dining room and atmosphere. Unfortunately, we can no longer say this about this restaurant. We were here with friends on Friday night and were enjoying dinner up until dessert. Just before 9pm, someone put the music up so high that it was unbearable. We thought there may be a special occasion or a birthday cheer coming up, but after the 4th or 5th song, including Lebanese music, we realised that it was not. We asked 2 waiters what was happening, but they both said, we don’t know and shrugged it off. The music was so loud that the 4 of us sitting together could not hear each other talk. It felt like we were in a tacky club. I couldn’t believe that it was happening in such a classy restaurant. I couldn’t finish my dessert or my coffee as it was no longer enjoyable. We decided to leave, as did a few other tables. I was watching the kitchen staff and they were staring out to the restaurant in disbelief. I felt for the kitchen staff who had no control over the situation, since it is mostly because of their hard work that diners keep coming back. When we were leaving, one of our regular waiters was apologetic, but one of the ladies that was also working the floor that evening, handled our disappointment terribly. She left a bad taste in our mouth, we felt disrespected and decided as we left that we would never dine at this restaurant again. I hope they pick up their game and take this review seriously. So...
Read moreCaught up with a girlfriend today as I am visiting from Perth. Her recommendation according to what she had heard of the place and its location. Must admit, location great, nice and clean, friendly staff and great service....and that’s where my compliments end.... Ordered a variety of dishes including the Yamba prawns which were tough and I really want an explanation on how you justify the price for those 4 prawns - followed very closely with how the hell you justify the price of those two little figs wrapped in prosciutto and served with that very ‘ordinary’ Gorgonzola sauce. The absolute dissapointment was the pasta with crab meat which was served with WAY too much salt - like the lid of the salt shaker must have fallen off into the dish when it was being seasoned - a detail we brought to the attention of not one but TWO waiters who responded that they would let the kitchen know - and that was IT believe it or not!!!! Yes, we paid and even left a monetary tip - and now my tip to everyone else - if you are a amateur diner who knows no better - by all means go....if u are a seasoned 4 or 5 star diner - don’t bother - you will be VERY dissapointed! I am sure there are dozens of other Sydney eateries that will serve you better and more exciting food at a much more...
Read moreWe recently hosted our mum’s surprise 70th birthday at Ecco Ristorante and couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the very beginning, Angelica and Rob were so supportive in helping us prepare and plan every detail. On the night, Rob was so attentive in making sure everything went to plan and Phil was absolutely fantastic – their warmth and professionalism made the evening flow seamlessly and Phil was so well received by all of our family.
It had been many years since we had hosted an event, and the Ecco team were incredibly gracious in guiding us through the process. They helped bring our vision to life with outstanding food, exceptional service, and thoughtful attention to detail. They even assisted with the technical side of our slideshow presentation, which was so important to making the night special.
Our family and guests were blown away, and we are so grateful to the whole team for creating such a memorable celebration. Highly recommend Ecco Ristorante for any special occasion – 5 stars is...
