Be warned this place is a tourist trap! The food and coffee was decent but it certainly wasn't THAT good to justify their outrageous prices like I've never seen anywhere else in Sydney. This is not some 5-star warerfront dining experience yet the owners must think it is. The reality is they serve pre-made sandwiches and cakes that sit in a window all day or more, there's no table service, no water, the tables are right in the middle of the thoroughfare of a busy shopping mall with crowds constantly walking around the tables. It's hardly a nice spot. To top it off they also add an extra 12.5% in surcharges over the already outrageously priced food on a Sunday. That's with no table service, nor even good or efficient service at the counter which is why the line is so long (not because it's good!).
They are deliberately taking advantage which is why there are no prices on anything. I never would have expected a take away pre-made sandwich and small coffee from the middle of a shopping mall to cost $33! So many negative reviews comment on their unjustified pricing and I gave feedback directly but they couldn't care less. There are enough tourists here visiting Birkenhead for a single day who don't return so they never need to change or improve. That's sad. Well I'm a local, I don't like feeling robbed and taken advantage of so I certainly will never be back.
There are so many other eateries at Birkenhead Point with much better value, better service and better food that is actually made to order! Recommend asking for the prices of everything prior to ordering, or just...
Read moreI feel so bad writing this review but after 4 days of sitting on it, I still can't get over it. I don't know what I'm more disappointed in, spending $20 on a bagel with stingy salmon, avocado and spinach or the fact that you actually charge $20 for something that's pre-made and already sitting in the front window.
Red flags should have been when NONE of the front window had pricing. Not one item. Nothing. No pricing to be seen anywhere.
I also ordered a "fresh juice" from the menu only to be served a bottled juice. I was shocked. When I questioned them about it, they didn't know what to say. I just spent $9.50 for a bottled juice from a company I had never heard of before (Simple Juicery).
Clearly, the rely heavily on overseas visitors who can barely speak English and will pay whatever because they don't know any better.
Some feedback: Update your menus so they better accurately reflect what you're serving. Add pricing to the front window so potential customers can make a better decision prior to ordering. If prices will be so high, make sure the quality and fillings reflect that in what the customer is ordering. For $20, I'd expect more than 5 spinach leaves, a teaspoon of cream cheese, 4 thin slices of avocado and 2 small slices (of what I assume would be frozen)...
Read moreWe were here on the weekend, there are no prices on food advertised, they do not display prices when putting through nor do they offer a receipt. I was charged $80 for two sandwiches, a croissant, 2 coffees, a baby chino and a slice of cake.
When I queried, how much everything was, it turned out I had been overcharged. The prices they charge for coffee and advertise are two different things (i.e. advertise .70c for soy and they put through $.80c - doesn't sound like much but its misleading). They also put through a $9 coffee instead of a $5 coffee.
The attitude in providing me a refund made me feel like I had done the wrong thing by querying and they were adamant to keep me quiet so no other customers heard - everyone is being overcharged!! I said to them they need to display prices and they said they don't have to as it is a takeaway service and prices change. This...
