We dined early—5pm sharp, and were met with swift, friendly service The venue was comfy and warm, especially under the indoor heater—nothing like drying off under artificial sun after being soaked ourselves in Sydney’s latest downpour.
We kicked things off with Prawn and Pork Dumplings in Chicken Soup. The dumplings were good, the soup light in flavour but on the oily side.
The Green Beans with Pork Mince shone: crunchy, savoury, bursting with wok-kissed goodness.
Kung Pao Numbing Chicken packed a decent punch, enjoyed this dish. As for the Salt and Pepper Spinach Tofu—well, we found the salt, we found the pepper, and eventually… we found the spinach. (Had to search) The tofu? A bit on the dry side.
We left the table full , taste buds doing a victory dance. But fast forward one hour and it felt like we’d just crossed the Sahara barefoot. Dry mouth? Try mouth like sandpaper. We downed enough water to refloat the Titanic .Honestly, a cold beer or three with dinner might’ve saved us from this post-meal dehydration apocalypse.

Read moreLast time I’m getting food here. I have ordered multiple times before and I think the quality has slipped. More oil and less flavour.
Last night I ordered the milk chicken and specifically ticked “no peanuts” because I am allergic to them.
I checked a few times on my online order that no peanuts was ticked as once before I received the same dish with peanuts and then had to throw it away. And I thought I had forgotten to tick the box.
I picked up the order and brought it home. I saw on the dish what looked like peanuts. Called the restaurant (twice) because they weren’t picking up- they called me back. I voiced my concerns- and they said no- it is just fried onion. Because my allergy is mild- (just itchy sore throat) I tried a tiny portion of the ‘fried onion’ and I got an itchy mouth so didn’t eat any more. My mother ate some and confirmed it was peanuts.
If someone had anaphylaxis they would have died and the restaurant...
Read moreWe went here today for Father’s Day. I looked online and the reviews were decent and I’d heard of the CBD restaurant. We arrived and no one came to assist. We just sat down wherever. A guy was sitting at the bar who looked about 17 on his phone and worked there. Not a great look. No one even checked if we had a booking. I saw no Yum Cha which is why we went there. When I asked, we got a one page menu of dumplings $9.90 each dish. Not the Yum Cha we were expecting. The only communication, albeit brief was when we ordered. No check in, no drink order, no nothing. They just brought out the food and plonked it down. The food was ok…not complaining about that. It was the experience. I thought it would have a great vibe, music etc. We were about to leave to go and sit in one of the cafe’s across the road that clearly had a better buzz. Disappointed and...
