Arrived after busy lunch time. The restaurant was quiet. The chef who worked at the front did not notice me but the girl who worked at the back definitely has noticed me. I looked at her with confusion, as I was not sure should I wait outside to be seated or go to the counter to place order with the chef. She looked at me with confusion too, as if I was here at the wrong time. We exchange few eye contacts but she kept remaining the silence as if it is a library. I got more confused why no one greet at me and I walked myself out, as soon as I left the door, the chef started to acknowledge my existence by looked at me. It is a strange experience overall. perhaps the food is too good that I don't deserve to be a customer?
I went to another restaurant nearby. It was a girl work solo. She works as chef, waitress and cashier. She was preparing take away order for several customers waiting in the counter. As soon as she saw me, she said "won't be a second". So I know after she finish the current food preparation, I will be the next. During the gap of her food preparation, she took my order quickly and I got a seat. so I can wait for my food while seated. No confusion at all.
I an sure this greek restaurant provides great food but please take my honest feedback: when stranger walked into your door, they are probably new customers want to eat.. please...
Read moreOn a recent work trip to Sydney, I went for a stroll after hours and stumbled across Souks. The place was buzzing — warm lights, the hum of conversation, the kind of homely vibe that pulls you right in. So I did, with a colleague in tow.
We ordered a mix plate, dips, and eggplant — simple but incredible. Every bite was bursting with flavour and that unmistakable authenticity you only get from family cooking. The taste was honestly out of this world — smoky, spiced, comforting — exactly what good Mediterranean street food should be.
The ambience is laid-back but full of life. Turns out, it’s a family-run place. When I said to the owner behind the counter, “What a feast and what flavours!” he just smiled and said, “Family cooking, my friend. Family cooking!” That sealed it for me.
Can’t recommend it more if you’re after proper, soulful Mediterranean food done right. I’d go back in...
Read moreOne of Pyrmont’s best restaurants and the best Mediterranean-Middle Eastern food I’ve had in Sydney. I believe it’s a fusion of Lebanese, Greek, and Moroccan. A family-run business with lovely owners.
Open for lunch and dinner (with a short closed period between for reset). Closed on Mondays.
The lamb, chicken, and prawn dishes are divine, as are the housemade dips especially hummus, babaganoush, and taramasalata. There are also great options for your vego friends including spinach kibbeh and falafel. The fattoush and tabouli salads are delicious too! I never leave without some housemade baclava too.
At lunchtime there are great value specials like salad bowls and wraps. At dinner time, make a reservation if you’re more than two people as the seating is limited and the restaurant is popular. You can order takeaway also. I can’t go longer than a month at most without...
