This is an iconic Sydney hotel. I had high hopes for the Saturday afternoon. They had one good beer on tap, Balter, so good job for that. The lunch menu was very thin - there are about six mains dishes available - I settled on chicken schnitzel because my mates ordered cheeseburger that looked pretty ordinary. The fish was an option, but a big Saturday arvo beckoned with Denis Carnahan's Rugby League The Musical and light-weight fare was not going to cut it. I was offered mash or chips but not veg, so I went for mash, and they produced mash and 'salad'. Please - 'salad' - check my photo. My pepper sauce never arrived, I asked for it but was then provided with simple gravy. I'm not asking for much from a pub lunch - it was sadly lacking. Staff were great, beer was cold and the right type. I will go back again, this time with a mind for the barramundi.

Well Sackville Hotel in Rozelle have certainly upped their sour beer & cocktail game since my last visit. After proving to NSW Police Force I was from Inner West Council and not violating public health orders for “freedom”, I stocked up on both. Started off the afternoon pandemic drinking with the Hope Estate brewery’s Pink Grapefruit Imperial Sour. It’s got a Warhead-like sharpness that works as an appetite inducing aperitif. Moved on to the Killer Beez, a Patrón Tequila, Mezcal and habanero-based cocktail that is meant to be served with a chilli salt rim. It’s well balanced and very smoky with quite a decent kick. We’ve now got better drinking at home through pandemics well in hand.

The Sackville Hotel Trying the New chef out. The last time I was here for lunch it was the worst but things are better now. The chicken was good and the tomato base was also good. No ham on it. The cheese was done well and it was topped with parmigiana which gave it good depth of flavour. The chips were okay not a great deal of them though. The coleslaw was good ,it was fresh unlike last time. A nice dressing on it with a hint of mustard seed in it. Three and a half plates cleaned.

I have been coming to the pub for just shy of 2 years, as I started my own business in Balmain. I visit at least 2-3 times a week, and have always recommended the Sacky to clients and friends/family. Sadly in the last 3/4 months I really have noticed the pubs atmosphere decline. It always has been the venue that locals will visit after work. On the weekend for drinks or catchups with friends. And now I struggle to find a reason to spend my time and money there. (Apart from all the amazing staff who have truly become friends).

The Sackville have recently introduced a no dogs policy after 7pm. This was done without warning and I witnessed many people being asked to leave with their dogs this week very abruptly.

Also I struggle to understand with all the menu changes that the sackville that made, why there isn’t a garlic bread or sourdough bread option? I mean that just seems inhumane.

Who doesn't love bread on a pub menu? Especially when it’s being served in Chez Blue.

As for the sport overload, whilst I appreciate many locals love their sport and supporting their respective teams, it’s has completely killed the vibe for other patrons who wish to enjoy their cocktails in peace, or have a boogie with friends on a Friday or Saturday night.

I really do hope and pray the Sackville can improve and become the local that everyone knows and...

We have been loyal Sackville customers for years and have always enjoyed the food, atmosphere and staff. We visited last night and arrived just before 6pm, mid week, not busy - thought it would be perfect for a family meal with our 18month old.

The recent renovation is great, but it seems the bistro area which permits kids only has 2 child friendly tables - is suitable height for a highchair. One long table reserved and another with people already sitting on it. Nearly all other tables were empty, and they were high bar style tables which are far too tall for highchairs. They have ample highchairs, which is great, but they don't have a tray so there's no way our daughter could have eaten there if the table was the wrong height .

The staff tried to help by suggesting the lounge but that's not really much better, it's not like we go out together all that often so a lounge isn't comfortable for a meal.

They need to bring more low tables into the dining area to be infant friendly, or just heads up, it's not an ideal pub for infants who...
