I recently had the pleasure of dining at Doodee, a Thai restaurant that left me absolutely impressed and craving for more! From the moment I stepped foot inside, I was warmly welcomed by the friendly and attentive staff, setting the tone for a remarkable dining experience.
The ambiance at Doodee is simply delightful. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with touches of Thai culture, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The soft lighting and comfortable seating make it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a memorable meal.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the food! Every dish I tasted at Doodee was an explosion of flavors that transported me straight to the vibrant streets of Thailand. The authenticity and attention to detail in their dishes were truly remarkable. Whether it was the fragrant Tom Yum soup, the aromatic Pad Thai, or the mouthwatering Green Curry, each dish was prepared with precision and finesse. The ingredients were fresh, the spices perfectly balanced, and the presentation was a work of art.
One standout feature of Doodee is their commitment to using high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients. The restaurant takes pride in supporting local farmers and suppliers, which adds an extra layer of freshness and sustainability to their delectable offerings. It's truly commendable to see a restaurant that values both taste and ethical sourcing.
The service at Doodee deserves special mention. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my dining experience was exceptional. They were knowledgeable about the menu, readily provided recommendations, and accommodated any dietary preferences or allergies. Their genuine warmth and enthusiasm made me feel like a valued guest, leaving a lasting impression.
In addition to the remarkable food and service, Doodee also offers a diverse selection of beverages, including refreshing Thai-inspired cocktails and a great variety of traditional Thai teas. These complemented the flavors of the dishes perfectly, creating a well-rounded and satisfying dining experience.
Overall, Doodee is a hidden gem that captures the true essence of Thai cuisine. With its warm ambiance, incredible flavors, and top-notch service, it has undoubtedly become one of my favorite Thai restaurants in town. If you're looking for an authentic and unforgettable culinary journey, Doodee is the place to be. Trust me, you won't be...
Read moreHeard alot about this place and was keen to try it out especially with the 'very very high' Google review rating. As you can tell from the photo, we gave so many things a try for dinner.
First dish - Doodee Devil (Lv. 2) Interesting dish, it actually comes in 7 levels, however we were only game enough to try the Devil which was level 2. The dish was not bad, but nothing amazing.
Second dish - Papaya Salad This was a tasty dish that was fantastic. Full of flavour and the portion size was quite generous. Definitely recommend ordering one on the side to share with the table.
Third dish - Beef Pad See Ew The flavours on this dish were awesome with the noodles being the star of the dish. However, the beef was not good; it was dry and chewy, almost like chewing cardboard. On a noodle front, definitely one of the better Pad See Ew's in Sydney but in terms of the beef, very poor.
Fourth dish - Salt & Pepper Squid I'm a sucker for Salt and Pepper Squid. This looked amazing, smelt amazing but the moment you take the first bite, it all changes. The batter was thin but oddly very very crispy. Although the flavour was there, you're left with a sore jaw from the energy required to chew through. I do not recommend.
Entree 1 - Satay Chicken Sigh - this was not good, it was quite dry and tough. Good size but that's all it had going for it.
Entree 2 - Moo Ping Definitely one of the better skewers of the night, good generous portion and packed full of flavour
Entree 3 - Look Shin Ping There were 2 variations of this, I believe it was pork and fish. Both didn't hit the spot, quite ordinary.
Overall: Although the menu promised alot of variation and flavours, it left us in disappointment. Price wise, for what we ordered it was definitely quite good value. The main question, will we be back? Possible...
I think if you're in the Darling Quarter area, you could give this a try but it definitely didn't knock our socks off and definitely didn't even get close to the Google rating. I feel there are better Thai options throughout the Sydney CBD that could offer better dishes although at the cost of the wide...
Read moreDoodee king owners take note: In a big city like Sydney, with ample Thai cuisine options within close proximity, customer service is essential. Patronising, condescending attitudes of front staff should not be entertained nor allowed. Today 21st Feb - we wanted to sit. The front waitress, Thai national , thin lady, who spoke fluent English, wanted to split two tables in your "table and stool" concept resto which had only one table occupied, in an otherwise empty al fresco dining area. I asked for two tables . I advised the front lady " I need two tables as we want to order a lot" she replied "let me see what you order and then I'll join". This already left a bad taste in ones mouth. We scanned the menu , and decided to leave as I was irritated, with the more rotund waitress letting out a snarky laugh.
Customers take note : 50 au$ for a steamed fish here Vs 59 au$ at holy basil next door. Where we were treated like royalty and that restaurant had full capacity , yet we were given the last table (which was a double table with capacity for 4 pax) on the 1st floor. Plus, the 5 star ambience with world class wait staff and amazing toilets. We answered with our wallets today, with no regrets.
Photos taken at holy basil. Was it so difficult to give us a double table in your table and stool, al fresco dining area with condescending wait staff,...
