If you know, you know. And if you donâtâlet me tell you: El Jannah is hands-down the best charcoal chicken joint in Sydney, no competition. Every single visit hits the spot, whether youâre grabbing a quick lunch, feeding the whole family, or absolutely starving after a long dayâthis place never disappoints.
Letâs start with the star of the show: the charcoal chicken. Itâs not just chickenâitâs an experience. Juicy, tender meat infused with that deep, smoky flavour only real charcoal grilling can deliver, and the crispy, perfectly seasoned skin? Unreal. You can tell theyâve mastered their technique after years of perfecting the same recipe. One bite and youâll understand why El Jannah has such a cult following.
Of course, it wouldnât be a true El Jannah meal without the legendary garlic sauceâthe OG toum. Creamy, smooth, and powerful. Itâs addictive. Dip your chicken, chips, bread, or honestly anything in it. If you donât leave with garlic breath, did you even go?
We always go for the Family Meal or the Whole Chicken Combo, which comes with a mountain of golden, crunchy chips, fresh pickles, warm Lebanese bread, and the perfect amount of garlic sauce. Everything is always served hot and fresh, and the portion sizes are extremely generous. You really get your moneyâs worth here.
Their tabbouleh, hummus, and falafel are also on pointâsuper fresh, vibrant, and full of flavour. You donât have to be a meat eater to enjoy El Jannah. Even the vegetarians in our group come here just for the falafel wraps with extra pickles and garlic sauce.
The service is quick and efficient, even when itâs packed (and it usually isâthatâs how you know itâs good). The staff are polite, hard-working, and they keep everything clean and running smoothly despite how busy it gets.
We usually go to the Granville location, where it all started, and the vibe is always buzzing. But every El Jannah location weâve triedâfrom Punchbowl to Blacktownâkeeps the same high quality and consistency. Whether you dine in or take away, the food is just as good.
Also, shoutout to them for always having affordable prices, even with massive portion sizes. In a time where food is getting more expensive everywhere, El Jannah is still a place where you can feed a family without breaking the bank.
In short: â Perfect charcoal chicken â Legendary garlic sauce â Fast service â Huge portions â Great value â Sydney icon
If youâre visiting Sydney and want to try real local food that people actually love and talk about, this is where you go. If you live here and havenât had El Jannah yet⌠what are you doing?
El Jannah is elite. Always has been, always will be. 5 stars...
Read moreOrder El Jannah via UberEats on Monday 26 June 2023.
First order - my friend scheduled a delivery. Uber deliverer gave two bags and it was clear that one bag was missing as the receipt said 1/3, 2/3 but there was no 3/3. Then realised there was no chicken as we ordered a family meal, EJ would usually put this in their boxes. We only received two bags which had drinks, salad, chips, lebanese bread and dips. Could not get through to UberEats or the driver. Sent as message via the chat but of course no response.
As it was past 8pm now, I proceeded to make another order via UberEats. Ordered a family meal, chilli sauce and falafels. Uber driver arrived and only gave one bag this time. This time we checked the order and asked him where the chicken was, he said it all he got. It was quite clear both drivers did not bother to check the order and that something was is not right at the Newtown store this night. Cannot believe we did not receive our chicken TWICE in one night, separate UberEats accounts too.
I googled the number for El Jannah Newtown but was put through to head office. Of course they can't do anything because it's UberEats, all they can do is pass on feedback.
UberEats has refused to refund me the correct amount for the missing items. I am paying $60 for 4 cans of drinks, a box of picklets and lebanese...
Read moreLet me start by saying I love El Jannahâs food. Itâs consistent with quality and flavour. But I was very disappointed with their service today.
We ordered food for 12 people at the office today (delivered through Uber eats) and there was one entire meal missing. Thatâs fine, mistakes happen. But when I called them, the person on the other end of the line was fairly dismissive about my concerns. I got no apology for the mishap (itâs a simple courtesy to the customer). Then I was asked to place another order with uber eats (something cheap like a sauce) so that they could send us the missing meal attached to that order). Why should I have to pay for uberâs (fairly outrageous) service charges and delivery fee (amounting to $7) for something that wasnât my fault?! Instead of acknowledging that, he kept throwing free food in my face âIâll give you 1/2 chicken for free. Is that fair enough? Ok Iâll add another drink, is that fair?â I donât need the free food. My lunch didnât get to me in time. I got no apology. I was forced to place another order which made no sense to me. I wasnât âheardâ when I was trying to talk about my concerns.
Again, I love their food and will probably continue to be a patron, but todayâs experience from a customer service perspective was very...
