The best burger ever! We went for lunch a couple of weeks ago after a shopping trip before flying home. Fix was just round the corner from David Jones and across the road from St James station. We didn’t make a reservation, and were seated immediately. The staff were friendly and brought us water. I chose the steamed market fish with greens, sweet potato and lemon caper butter, the fish was barramundi. It was beautifully cooked, it was so moist, the sweet potato and lemon caper butter were smooth buttery and added a lovely citrus sharpness, and the greens were beautifully cooked. My husband opted for the wagyu burger, he devoured it and proclaimed it was the best burger he had ever had! It was so moist and tender and just melted in the mouth. We ordered a portion of the chips with chicken salt, that we picked at, this would be our only criticism, the chips were crunchy and well cooked but the chicken salt was a little over salty for our taste. We chose a bottle of the Domaine de L’ille ‘Porquerolles” Provence rose to accompany our lunch, which was delicious. If we come back to Sydney we would definitely come back to...
Read moreI'm very disappointed this place has escaped me for so long. Once a year a group of us have our annual "Grange" tasting (sometimes the Grange is the cheapest wine we drink) in the best restaurant we can find that will allow us to bring a few bottles of our own. As the only vegetarian in our carnivore-centric drinking group I know it p**s off the convenor she has to find a restaurant that serves vegetables. But I digress. Fix doesn't look like the place to hold a special gourmet event, but looks can be deceiving. Stuart put together a special meal to accommodate our diverse dietary requirement, and it couldn't have been better. He threw some wine of his own in amongst the thousands of dollars worth of high end stuff we brought ourselves, and it did not disappoint. Stuart is a knowledgeable, enthusiastic host, and the food and wine exemplify his passion for quality. I can't wait to go back to work my way through his wine list. I'm certain like Fix itself, Stuart will have some wine gems that have thus far eluded me. Highly...
Read moreDear KATIE PARDEY,
I am writing this review to correct the record.
KATIE PARDEY has posted a complaint about racial slurs. I am the person to whom KATIE PARDEY alleges slurs were made.
I do not wish to engage in a discussion about what is offensive or not. However, I do wish to say that the Team at Fix St James Wine Bar are my family; my friends; and my choice. I have never experienced any racism at this establishment, in fact, the opposite.
KATIE, with respect, your assumption was wrong. I appreciate your concern for me, (and other potentially marginalised communities) and the potential offence that, whilst not subjectively received, is objectively viewed.
However, your decision to post a review which posits offence on behalf of somebody else without having spoken to that person is both lacking in logic and exceedingly arrogant.
Worry about yourself.
Fix St James Wine Bar is incredible. Come back, and we'll show you how this family...
