we have been to this place on multiple occasions spending excess of $100 each time it has been our go to cafe for years until our recent visit which was on Monday the 23rd of October at 10am. one doesn’t like writing a negative reviews but on this occasion we felt it was necessary to share our experience so the owners know what is going on in there business. We waited too be seated by the staff at front counter for about 1 minute, the staff were to busy with there heads down on there mobile phones we approached them and could see they were looking at facebook and they looked up at us and said take a seat where ever you like, we advised them that we are ready to order and they acknowledged us and said they will be right over, they looked asian in appearance, one girl was setting tables while the other one was busy on her mobile phone, then we asked the asian lady setting tables can you please take our order she said, she was new there and she doesn’t know how to take someones order. we waited another 5 minutes and saw the same lady was clearing tables and we got her attention again and reminded her that we would like to order, she responded, by saying someone will be over to take your order, we waited another 5 minutes and we saw a male waiter walk over to our direction and he stopped at the table next to our table to take there order you could clearly see the people had ordered coffees and finished and they both had a meal and wanted some more drinks yet we had been waiting 15 minutes and the staff couldn’t take our order, we made our way to the front counter and the asian lady who we spoke to on the way in was still on her phone we could see she was looking at her facebook account the whole time we were waiting to order, she was busy on her phone seems like they are lacking a senior manager there in the mornings and the staff just do what they want and ignore customers requests when you ask to order. the food and coffee is good its a shame the service is as bad as it is we don’t want to come back again, we walked to another cafe and they took our order straight away and we were drinking our coffee in under two minutes and food arrived promptly after. the owners need to know what there staff are doing to there...

Wanted to go here for a while since it opened since the fitout is attractive and it always seems busy, and today was our first time.

We waited in line (with about five other groups) and we watched and waited for a good ten minutes as there were five empty tables. As the time ticked by, this became frustrating. They either don’t have enough staff, or they weren’t focused enough on seating people. They seemed to want to clear the tables first before seating people but they took a really long time to do that, and you would think they would want to expedite seating people so people aren’t waiting in line… only one girl was seating people, but she was also taking food to tables and I think that was partly the issue. They need to have one person who greets and seats people. We almost left the line as it was getting a bit stupid, how long we had to wait.

The atmosphere is nice enough but tables are too close together, hard to have a conversation.

We ordered the tiramisu pancakes and the spicy chicken benny.

I was expecting the tiramisu pancakes to be freshly cooked and at least warm, but they come out cold. Unfortunately the temperature makes them taste a bit stale and it was overall super disappointing. Wouldn’t order again and I left more than half of it.

The spicy chicken benny had some good flavours but way too much going on and not enough chicken. It comes out lathered in a spicy sauce, with then hollandaise sauce with it also, then with the poached eggs the plate was just drowned in liquid and both sauces were so rich, that it made you feel sick eating it. My friend who ordered it, struggled to finish it and felt a bit sick with all the richness of both sauces.

It is worth saying the coffee was really good, we were both happy with it.

Overall, it was disappointing and I feel bad saying this as the staff were really friendly and polite. I’m hoping they sort the seating issues out and maybe if we had ordered different meals, we would have had a better experience. Unsure if...

Technically it deserves ā€œ0ā€ star rating!!! I can only rate it for utmost Terrible Service and Not food… because we didn’t even get to eat!!! We waited for nearly 35 mins because we wanted a table for 4!!! Apparently, they only had 1 bench that could accommodate 4 people!! We were advised that the customers have finished their meal and might take another 5 mins or so hence we waited!!! After nearly 20 mins, I asked if they could join two single tables to accommodate us since we have been waiting for so long! The girl gave a poor explanation on issues related to invoicing! Anyways, we waited for another ten minutes! I spoke to the manager and explained that people behind us had got the tables only because they were in 2’s and we have been waiting for 30 mins and no table yet!!! The shocking reply was…are you happy to wait more for that 1 table to vacate? I guess this is enough to say that the staff lacks not just commonsense but also lacks courtesy towards their customers!!! The piece of advise would be … if you are a family of 4… then this cafe is not for you!!!

Response to Owner - Not sure why I am unable to reply to your response! Anyways, the courteous thing to do would be to notify the customer upfront about the slim possibility of the (1 and only 1 ) table vacating any sooner and instead offer an option of combining two tables together to accommodate the family that has waited for a considerably long time!!! And, if that sounds like a big deal, then still should have informed us upfront that they cannot unfortunately accommodate us as it is very busy!!! We would have walked away without being so upset as someone cared enough to inform us than to make us wait forever!!!! Accept, acknowledge and do not repeat… is the best...

The coffee here and the decorations are as good as their sister store in Chatswood Westfield (so stars for that) but unfortunately our experience was ruined by bad services (from 1 staff/manager only). Other staff were accommodating and nice. At the front counter the staff was being apologetic and accommodating about my wait time (during lunch rush) where he found the table for us as soon as he could (earlier than the expected 15mins). No problem with that. Ok then here comes the bad parts; we got seated at one end (closed to counter actually) and tried to wave multiple times for attention. No responses available from anyone. It’s ok, they are busy. So we only ordered coffee. Coffee were served they way they were, no problem. During mid way of our coffee session, a young yet authoritative staff (probably the manager or boss of this place) walked to us and bluntly said ā€œI need my chair backā€ on the chair where we placed our grocery bag on because they were no space to put it. But we’re fine to comply, it’s a business where they need bum on seats after all (wish he requested more politely). The worse part follows, the same manager/boss then literally said ā€œcan you guys move your table to let new customers come through?ā€ā€¦.… First of all we didn’t move our table at all, the table was set up and positioned this way, plus we are almost done with the coffee. So I replied ā€œok, let us finish our coffeeā€ā€¦then the manager relied ā€œno need to it move nowā€ā€¦ā€¦.that really crossed the line of bad service… With no choice nor polite request, we had to end our session with dissatisfaction. Was not happy with the treatment ! I hope they improve or find a new boss.

Today, I visited F.C.H Cafe in Castle Hill with a friend (short for Flower Child Cafe—hope that’s okay!) during brunch time. I ordered the French toast, and my friend chose the pancakes. First of all, the presentation of the dishes was absolutely stunning! I couldn’t resist taking pictures of the beautifully decorated plates. The French toast was especially impressive. The bread itself was massive—almost the size of a steak, which was incredible! It came with a generous amount of fresh strawberries and blueberries, all perfectly ripe and sweet. The freshness of the fruit balanced the sweetness of the dish wonderfully, ensuring it wasn’t overwhelming or too heavy to enjoy. What I also loved was the portion size—very generous and satisfying. It’s the kind of place that leaves you full and happy. The only downside? I wish this cafe were closer to my home. It’s such a gem that I feel a bit sad it’s not in my neighborhood. If you’re ever in Castle Hill, I highly recommend giving F.C.H Cafe a try! Oh, and I just realized I forgot to mention something! this place is perfect for selfies or food pics. You know, that Instagram vibe, right?šŸ˜‰

I recently visited Flower Child and had a mixed experience. While the food was good, I felt that the portions were quite small for the price. The presentation was also lacking, with the dishes looking rather bland and unexciting. For a restaurant that likely prides itself on fresh and vibrant offerings, this was a disappointment. Another major downside was the wait time. It was incredibly long, which made the dining experience less enjoyable. On top of that, there was a sense of being rushed through the meal, as if they wanted to turn over tables quickly rather than allowing guests to enjoy their time. Overall, while the quality of the food at Flower Child was satisfactory, the small portions, bland presentation, long wait times, and rushed service left much to be desired. I hope they can improve these aspects to provide a more pleasant and worthwhile dining experience in the future.
