Recently went to Frankie B's for a dinner with friends. Unfortunately we were left unsatisfied as they did miss the mark on the night. The dishes on the menu weren't really executed that well despite the great atmosphere of the venue.
From the get go the atmosphere was buzzing and packed. I would recommend making a booking beforehand. Easily a fan favourite for birthdays. The decor is subtle and quite modern.
Service was fair, however staff did seem distracted between customers and their headsets. Some occasions we found our requests being missed without assurance or any attention to detail. Ordering was done through a QR code and was pretty easy to navigate, but the menu is big.
Serving sizes is a whole new topic with Frankie B's. Most dishes have big servings and could probably serve 2 to 4 people, so keep this in mind when ordering especially considering pricing.
Pricing is on the expensive side due to the large servings, but it is underwhelming that some dishes on the menu fail to hit the mark.
We started the night with the Ravioli Puffs. They seemed decent but was slightly on the dry side. The Spicy Sauce does have a little kick, but it did take it off the dry side but it overpowered the Spinach and Ricotta. Standard at best, but could have been better. 7/10
We also had got the Potato Fries and had to get them with Mushroom Sauce. The Fries themselves were seasoned well and were quite standard. The Aioli Dip was okay, but the Mushroom Sauce was amazing. Overall the dish was good. 7/10
The Chicken Chorizo Pizza was the most disappointing dish of the night. The dough was slightly raw on the edges and completely dry towards the centre. The toppings didn't shine at all. We did add Red Onions to the pizza for flavour. The Chicken was small shreds causing it to be dry. The Chorizo and Blue Cheese was very underwhelming as it was completely absent. It also felt like this Pizza was missing a sauce. Something as simple as a bit of Barbeque Sauce and bigger cuts for both proteins would have saved this dish. Very disappointing. 4/10
For the main I had the Rigatoni Ramona. I found the dish to be quite nice. The Sauce and Pasta blended well as it should. The only issue I had was the Chicken as it was hit or miss as some pieces were dry. I had to add the Burrata and Prawns. The Burrata enhanced the dish and made it creamy, but the Prawns were over cooked and rubbery. 6/10
We were also served a Gnocchi Napoletana which we ordered with Meatballs. The dish was okay and nothing too special. Sauce was okay and the Gnocchi was average. Major issue I had was the Meatballs they're not enjoyable at all. They were missing flavour of any kind, it really was just bland meat. 5.5/10
I hope Frankie B's were just caught out on the night and likely felt the pressure as they were very busy at the time. I just hope this isn't a trend. They are worthy of another chance without a doubt and will definitely try again in the future.

Read moreI visited this restaurant a couple of months ago with my wife and our friends, and while the experience back then was decent enough to make me consider returning, my recent visit for my wife’s birthday turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had.
Complete disregard for dietary requests: We ordered two customised plates and specifically emphasised—repeatedly—that the dishes needed to be strictly halal. Despite this, the restaurant served us a dish containing pork, which is a clear violation of our dietary requirements and values. Even though the waiter apologised and replaced the dish, it took an additional 20 minutes for the new plate to arrive. This delay not only disrupted our meal but also demonstrated a concerning lack of awareness about halal practices. It raises serious doubts about whether the kitchen staff understand the importance of keeping utensils, cutlery, and cookware separate for halal and non-halal food. For a restaurant claiming to cater to halal diners, this mistake is inexcusable.
Loss of trust in the food: After such a significant oversight, we struggled to trust the replacement dishes. The thought of what had transpired left us feeling uncomfortable and unable to enjoy the food. I ended up throwing most of it away when I got home—feeding it to my cats—just so the money wouldn’t be a total waste.
Overpriced for mediocre quality: The cost of the two plates we ordered came to a staggering $112.24—nearly $55 per person. While portion sizes may be generous, the pricing is simply unjustifiable for the quality and service provided. To pay this much and still encounter such fundamental issues is nothing short of ridiculous.
Gimmicky and unaccommodating birthday policy: When I informed the staff that it was my wife’s birthday, I was told that in order to receive the advertised “free birthday package,” I’d need to purchase an additional $10 ice cream—even after already spending $112 on food. This felt like nothing more than a blatant money grab. For a restaurant promoting a celebratory experience, this policy was disappointing and disrespectful.
Ultimately, the experience was so poor that I opted to quietly pack up the leftovers and leave without addressing the management. The combination of unprofessional handling of dietary restrictions, overpriced meals, and disappointing service ensures that I won’t be returning. This restaurant failed to deliver on even the most basic expectations of respect, care, and value for money. Avoid it if you’re looking for a stress-free, enjoyable...
Read moreWhen I first walked in, I felt like there was so much going on in terms of decor. However, I am never afraid to ask what goes on in the mind of a business owner and it made a lot more sense when I knew. Their menu was huge! So much to choose from. So many options to cater everyone, even the pickiest eater. We went straight for the brunch section and what an impressive selection they had.
With a menu so big, you get to taste it all. We had a great mix of sweet and savoury flavours across new dishes and classic favourites. FYI their venue will be opening up a brunch house in Alexandria later on in the year, so stay tuned!
The ‘Brunch Platter’ had everything you want and more. Pork Belly, bacon, grilled halloumi, smoked salmon, avocado, feta, shanklish cheese, two types of fries, eggs done two ways.. deep breath sauces, the woodfired bread.. there’s a little more in there but let’s limit the caption shall we?! Perfect for sharing or perfect for one severely hungover person.
One of my favourites was the ‘Bruschetta Misto’. These guys have 7 types of bruschettas on their menu so this dish was a winner for me as it had a mixWe continued with one of the best steak sangas I've ever had. The scotch fillet was cooked beautifully, making it super easy to eat. Highly recommend ordering this one! We also tried the '4 Cheese Toastie' which was a winner for me.
I've had plenty of eggs benedict but not in the form of a burger. Yes, these guys do it in a burger! You've got the best of both worlds with this dish.
We tried to be healthy and ordered a couple of salads - the 'Lamb Salad' & 'Salmon Salad'. I loved the flavour and ingredients in both. Every mouthful was exciting and that lamb, phwoar.. cooked to perfection!
Then we ordered 'FB's Banana Heaven'. Yes, we went to heaven with this dish! Banana bread loaded with things like caramel, Biscoff crumble, walnuts. Sounds like a lot but it worked and I loved every single bite of it.
I can't thank the staff enough for their generosity and hospitality. I can't wait to bring my family and friends as I know they'll love it as much as I did. of 4 types including this incredible ‘Fig & Berry’ one. I would come back just for that.
And who says you can’t have pizza for brunch?! Frankie B’s have created one that includes bacon, ham and eggs, making it one delicious...
