This is a story about the kindness of strangers. I had lunch here yesterday, for the first time cause I loved the look of the menu. I had the corn fritters (GF), fries, coffee and cake(GF). All were really fresh, interesting and super tasty. As to the service, well I dropped my napkin and the waiter picked it up and insisted on a new one and went all the way back inside and got me on. Who does that these days!? Then I had cake and another waiter suggested I might like a glass of water. Who anticipates like that these days!? A refreshingly great lunch experience! So I go up to pay ($35) and lets just say there was a big problem with my card.....how embarrassing.....I went into a bit of a spin. The owner and the staffs response was truly amazing. I did have $20 in cash but they would only take $10, cause he didn't want to leave me short for the day, as I was down from the mountains. Who thinks like that these days!? So to the owner and all at Hunter's Corner, I'm so very grateful for everything, especially...
Read moreLovely people, the best coffee in Redfern (including the decaf - they grind it fresh for each cup), and great food in a beautiful setting that pays tribute to its past and features some great street art outside and in the rear courtyard. The chef's attention to detail is impressive, and the servings are generous. The Vincent Vega is the best burger in Redfern, their hash browns are amazing and not like a typical hash brown. They're crispy balls of goodness. There are a number of hearty, healthy and vegetarian/vegan options along with the usual bacon and eggs, etc. Other great dishes include the chilli eggs with fetta, the superfood nourish bowl, the Tim Tam and Nutella pancakes, the buttermilk pancakes, the list goes on. They also have chilled sparkling water on tap, so if you like your water fizzy, you don't have to pay for it. Hunter's Corner is...
Read moreAs a local I now have had breakfast there 2x, to give the benefit of a one off miser. But 2nd time even more disappointing than our 1st visit. I am unsure why this place gets such a good rating, although their coffee's are nice. The service is extremely slow, two meals where finished before the 3rd came out. The hallomie cheese on the veggie breakfast is not grilled but deep fried and chewy, tasteless and like plastic. The avocado hard and not ripe, I suspect the salsa came out of a jar. The harsbrown's are rolled flattened mash potato balls. The "crispy" bacon, are fatty barely touched the frypan, slippery and uncooked. I dont know where the "Sonoma" bread was but it was not on my plate, a very basic, tasteless (old) bread slice. Shame as I live down the road, and it's a nice location and decor, but do your selves a favour drink the coffee,...
