Watch your transactions at this establishment as they try to doubly charge you. I ordered a round of drinks (2 wines & a coke) $25.42 at the downstairs bar, the bar tender put it through on eftpos & I paid via tap & pay on my phone, the bar tender poured the two wines then she touched the eftpos machine again before pouring the coke. I take my drinks back to my group table. 5 minutes later the bar tender calls out from the bar to say the payment didn’t go through… I checked my phone & can see the payment went through, advise the bar tender accordingly. She then argues from the bar that it didn’t so I get up from a large group to discuss it at the bar. I proceeded to again show her that the transaction indeed went through 5mins ago, I showed her in 2 forms on my phone where she argued that sometimes if you tap too fast it didn’t work. She argues that the last transaction on the eftpos machine was $21 (there were multiple people at the bar during my transaction & people paying after me included someone from my group) Again I show her it indeed had gone through on my phone & bank app, she argued and said “I’m just doing my job” then informed me “I’ll be getting my manager” I sit back down to wait for the manager, see the manager come out & go back. We left 15mins later, I asked if we were ok to go, to which the bar tender tried to ignore me until I said “excuse me did you check with your manager?” Her reply was “yes it was fine that’s why we didn’t come over to you” I informed her that an apology would have been courteous considering she tried to double charge me & interrupted a group setting. She then proceeded to tell me that the till didn’t open that’s why she thought the transaction had not gone through & that the way things escalated was why she spoke to her manager. Things didn’t “escalate” I just refused to be double charged for cheap service. She proceeded to argue with myself and a co-patron, no apology, no remorse, just an expectation to charge double dispite being shown live evidence of payment. Luckily I paid via my phone & could show instant proof. This was early afternoon, not late at night & was during one wine, if I had paid via my card with no access to my internet banking I would no doubt have been double charged, however ultimately it was the attitude of the the bar tender, her rude demeanor & ignorance that leads me to leave such a negative review over a...
Read moreThe view maybe awesome from the roof bar but the service from the management and staff is disgusting. Had a very civilised 30th Birthday for a friend, her family had travelled for over 3 hours here but was constantly moved around, rushed to eat food. We were told we were causing trouble when we were all sober and having very polite conversation together, relaxing with friends and family. Around 15 us left due to them not wanting to serve us, if only the CCTV would be used to support the customer rather than the disgraceful behaviour shown by staff and door staff. DO NOT come here if you want to have a nice relaxing afternoon with friends / family. The staff will assume your character, determine how to treat you based on his/her own bad day and make you feel like sh*t. If only the licensee, Adrian could have witnessed it.
Replying to Hyde Park House:
I have never reviewed this place before so don't attempt to make me look like a troll when I have a valid complaint about the services. instead, be accountable and be better.
You seem to want to miss critical elements of my complaint and make your own assumptions of who we were and you couldn't be any further from the truth. What angers me here is that you show no willing to show any responsibility to those who have not enjoyed a good experience but more than happy to give credit to those who have had a great time.
To make it extremely clear. We were a very so we group who had recently arrived. We were shown no respect on the moment of entry to the moment of exit. To try to paint a picture of who we were and cover yourself is actually disgusting, you will never come off looking great if you make inaccurate assumptions, tell absolute lies about me posting on here before and trying to cover up what needs to be addressed. Let it be noted that I am not the only one to speak about poor service when looking at the history of reviews. It means you should address it and be better, not defend yourself so desperately that you need to...
Read moreWe came here for lunch, mostly out of desperation for a pub meal—and instantly regretted it. On a cold, rainy day, this place somehow managed to feel even colder inside, which already set the tone.
The crumbed chicken burger was the only decent thing we had, but everything else was a disaster. We got suckered in by the “stone cooked” pizza gimmick—don’t be fooled. It was one of the worst pizzas I’ve ever had: bland, soggy, and just sad. The rump steak? Burnt on the outside, ice cold in the middle, and so tough it could have doubled as a shoe sole. Even the chips came out cold, which tells you everything you need to know.
By the time we realised how bad it all was, it was too late to send it back. Save yourself the misery and pick literally any other pub in the city—you’ll thank yourself later. Don’t make the same mistake we did.
Edit: Wow, what a response. Nothing says “quality venue” like a manager bragging about how customers managed to chew through a cold steak and sad chips. Sorry we didn’t burst into tears at the table to meet your customer service standards. Maybe next time I’ll send a carrier pigeon mid-bite to let you know the food is terrible. Thanks for proving my point though—you clearly care more about being snarky online than actually fixing anything.
Edit 2: Interesting move—your original reply was short, defensive, and ended with “hopefully we don’t see you again.” Now you’ve gone back, rewritten it, and added a lecture plus name-calling. That says a lot more about your management style than my review ever could.
People finish meals out of hunger, not quality. Pretending otherwise is just denial. And digging through my review history? That’s not customer service, that’s desperation.
Instead of rewriting your replies and insulting customers, maybe focus on serving hot food and taking feedback on board. You didn’t defend your food—you defended your ego. And that...
