Honestly extremely disappointed with our experience at Love, Tilly Devine. We made a booking of 8 people and hence it was mandated that we took the set menu. We were only allowed to be at the table for 90 minutes, but at the end of 90 mins, we have not received all our food from the set menu. Because there was another reservation, we were given the only option to ‘sit’ outside. To finish the rest of our food on these tiny roadside tables. The tables could barely hold all our drinks let alone plates and cutleries. If the kitchen is not equipped for big groups, maybe you should not mandate for them to get the set menu? We would have been happy to just stay for some drinks and the vibes and have dinner elsewhere.

Food was extremely overpriced and mediocre as well. For a $60 set menu I expected to be full after leaving but we were all still hungry. 90% of the food was literally not even cooked. Literally something you could have gotten yourself at the grocery store. I have attached a photo of the set menu with my review. Like the Dutch carrots were literally raw. And the whipped cod roe just tasted like a dip you could get from woolies?

We also ordered some extra LP’s pig’s head sausage, potato bun, tomato relish (which by the way is literally just a very dry standard hotdog), the staff had forgotten to serve us our order and told us that all our food was served. They only corrected the order when one of us picked it up and asked for it.

Overall, mediocre food, overpriced menu, very average service. You might get a nice photo from instagram though, if...

Booked here for my girlfriend's and my anniversary dinner last year. Was informed on the website they were serving Lasagne on the menu and I had to pay a $40 deposit for the table.

When I arrived, we were seated facing a wall next to each other on a narrow bench with some stools. When I asked for a table I was told there probably wasn't one, before being escorted up to a filthy glass table next to a loud group, and since there was no chairs to sit at, I had to request one, after which someone hastily gave me an uncomfortable rusty fold out chair whilst acting like we were rude for wanting to sit across from one another on our anniversary. Ok.

After this was told that they were only serving Kingfish on the night, even though my booking stated Lasagna. They were extremely rude when I brought this up and the young waiter angrily informed me that this is what I'd agreed to. I hadn't.

Walked out within about 5 minutes of arriving as it was clear from the arrogant demeanour of the staff and their disregard for our experience that we could've had a better anniversary dinner at a servo.

They still charged me $40 for "reserving a table" for us. Upon emailing the manager about our horrible experience and requesting a refund out of goodwill I was informed that we changed our mind and left and therefore they weren't required to refund me.

Take your business elsewhere, thank god we were able to get a table at the Sri Lankan restaurant around the corner who at least value your business and treat you like a person. Saved our night from...

Wasted an hour of our time by giving us the wrong time over the phone - telling us 6.45pm, and when we arrived telling us they were full until 7.45pm - without apologising for the mix-up, which was their fault.

The food was okay - nice burrata and carrot entree, the kingfish main had a tasty sauce but the fish was pretty dry. The cheese desert was basic. You only split a single serving of each for a couple, which, at $50 pp, is not worth it.

The wine was very scantily poured - I've been to plenty wine bars, and here they pour maybe two thirds of what you'd expect. They only had a few wines available by the glass, which were decent but at $14-$17 per glass, not great value - especially considering how little you're getting.

But worst of all was the service. Our waiter was snobbish, forgetful of our orders, quite snarky when he got brought up on it, and abruptly stopped his service to leave the restaurant for a cigarette in plain view of patrons. Upon re-entering he immediately came to our table to take an empty plate, and still reeked of cigarettes.

Honestly was looking forward to this place as one of our first outings after the lockdown, and because of the hype it routinely gets in local publications, but it is definitely not worth it. You just didn't feel much love in this joint. It may have been good once, but no longer.

At the very least, upon raising the above complaints with the chef (slash manager?) he did graciously give us a...

Came in for a few bites and glasses during the happy hour, ended up staying until 8. The small plates were lovely, some light pickled treats preceding the pig’s head sausage which had a great snap and meaty flavour. I took great pleasure in attempting their, “identify the grape and region,” mystery wine game. I failed miserably but had great fun trying to justify my answer to the waiter. The place had a great buzz and had to get a bit more food so had a really well seasoned tartare before finishing the night off with a lovely PX sherry and a semillon dessert wine.

Hidden in a lane, this is one of the top rated wine bars in Sydney. The wine selections for May allow you to order by the glass thanks to a partnership they’re having. Happy hour is 5-6pm, Mon-Sat (which is crazy to include a weekend! So good!) The service is top notch especially if you’re celebrating anything like a birthday. Food wise: lots of vego options, love the Gilda’s and the walnut mushroom pate (super creative!). Personally didn’t love the onion dip but there is a poignant after taste. The bread comes in 4, huge!
