Usual Sydney cbd restaurant decor. We went for the Indu feast to sample a bit of their best.
The beetroot salad was refreshing but the components did not seem to blend well.
The drinks - blueberry coconut lassi and mango ice tea were not exciting. An effort to stand out and be different but again, the ingredients did not amalgamate well and the end result gave us the impression of a confused creator
The vegan hopper, was unique, but a hopper has to be served hot and ours was cold... That's unacceptable. Again, the individual bits of the filling were good but did not come together and the dish was very dry.
The milk bun with butter and sambal is not really a culinary challenge and I do not consider it as a dish at all.
The Kashmiri lamb curry was the best I have ever had! Simply outstanding and mouthwateringly delicious. Fresh ingredients, tender lamb and a very authentic taste. There is attention to detail here.
The paratha was an absolute delight as well.
The devilled pumpkin was very impressive as well done, the flavours came through beautifully. But if one does not like the inherent sweetness of pumpkin you may not enjoy the dish.
The dal was very poorly done. Either it was burnt or there was a wrong ingredient added as the taste was simply unpalatable. It takes a lot to get a dal wrong!
The raita was very interesting and refreshing. A bit overdone with the additions in my opinion but nevertheless quite unique.
The dessert ā coriander granita with coconut mousse and jelly with passion fruit was so refreshing yet light. An absolute delight and a great way to finish off.
Overall an average experience and a stand out restaurant by being different....which means it is not a place to expect an authentic taste in all their dishes. I would go there again... only for the lamb curry though and nothing else. they have to do something...
Read moreVery disappointing experience. The food was very unpleasant. The service was mediocre at best. We ordered the cuttlefish, which was more of an oily soup with vegetables and roti bread drenched in oil. There were three and half pieces of fish, and the taste was unpalatable, due to all the oil. When the server came by to ask if everything was okay, we told him what happened, he brought the maître, who spoke to the kitchen staff. He agreed the amount of fish was unacceptable, but said the dish was meant to made with that amount of oil. He asked if we wanted something else, but with the experience kind of ruined, it felt like a mute offer. We just nibbled on the other dish, which was the barramundi, and we paid and left. The cuttlefish was removed from our bill.
The barramundi was alright. A decent filet of fish, but way too spicy, even for someone who likes spicy Indian food. The server should have asked what spice level I wanted or told me that the dish was very spicy. Also, the barramundi comes with absolutely nothing on the side, so you are expected to get a side with that. I ordered a paratha, which was very nice, and not what you would typically get, but the other options for sides were limited (basmati rice or puliyodrai rice).
In terms of service, we were greeted a very friendly staff member, who walked us to our table. The rest of staff walked by with smiles and they all said hello. However, our server was a bit pushy on the drinks and once we made it very clear we didnāt want any drinks, his demeanor changed and he became quite impatient. Of course, when we told him about the dish being drenched in oil and having just three and a half pieces of cuttlefish, he didnāt take that well either.
Overall, I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMade a Booking 3 weeks in advance for 5pm. Went there earlier around 4.30pm on Saturday the 4th just to ask if they allowed BYO. Simple question. Quick Answer. The menu was out front and all doors open. Walked in and the "manager" was on the phone in a heated conversation with someone. Did not acknowledge us which would have been the hospitable thing to do. THen came over and RUDELY said we are not open please go online to book. TRIED to tell him we have a booking and only need to ask a question but he talked over us. Managed to ask about BYO and was rudely told no and that they werent open yet. We know. We Know. Walked out and called up (and I think he answered) Said I want to cancel as possible he was rude to us and want to cancel with the cancellation fee as it was due to the managers rudeness and we dont feel comfortable in that environment. No Apology just cancelled. Did not confirm if no cancellation fee. The truly DISGUSTING thing about this is I am a carer, And I was taking my client with a disability there as a treat. To be treated so rudely and dismissively is truly repulsive from such a highly regarded restaurant. But I guess as it is hard to get a booking they SIMPLY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU. As they can fill the seats easily. Went to a redfern Lebanese restaurant which had great food and excellent service. Would have liked to try the food but if the owners cannot hire a person with even the most basic of hospitality skills then why even bother. Seriously. Just acknowledge people. Be pleasant. Apologise if required. Its not...
