I had a casual birthday dinner at Mumu last night with my partner, and we surprised at how much we enjoyed the restaurant!
Ordered the following to share: Sweet prawn betel leaves x 2 Fried chicken wings Nasi goreng Pork spare ribs Pipis in jungle curry CC and dry x 2 Yuzu and ginger mocktail x 1 Sparkling water x 1
Obvs I’m NOT a food critic. I’m only sharing my experience as someone who likes ‘flavours’.
Prawn betel leaves were like a flavour bomb in the mouth. Awesome way to kick off the meal. I could’ve eaten 10 of these.
Chicken wings were very fun and tasty. Crispy, not overly fried and no chunky batter. Best part was the unique curry butter sauce. It sounds weird, but it just works. Hints of curry spice (not spiciness) with creamy butter. I’m on a quest to recreate this curry butter at home.
Pork spare ribs had a sticky tamarind glaze with garlic. This was the most generous portion of all our dishes. I’d say it’s better if you share this with 4 people instead of 2 people. It’s A LOT. It’s like ‘sweet n sour’ pork but with a bit of somethin’ somethin’. I don’t normally eat pork but I tried a few pieces. It was probably a bit too chewy for my liking, but my partner cleaned up the entire plate. The crispiness was nice though.
Nasi goreng - I would definitely order this again. It’s a good filler to share while you’re trying out the other dishes like meat and seafood. The Asian in me can’t have an Asian meal without rice. The fried rice was super tasty but the best part was the garlic sauce that came with it. That thing is like crack. I would put that on top of everything I eat.
Pipis were cooked in a jungle curry. This was OK. Nothing wrong with it. The pipis were fresh and tasty, but once you have all those other amazing flavours, this doesn’t make an impression. I’d leave this out next time and try something like the Moreton Bay Bugs.
VIBES Fun, busy, buzzing with life and chatter. There was a DJ too. Also love that it wasn’t styled in the typical Asian theme of things like straw, palm trees etc. You can dress up or down. Make sure you use your hands to really enjoy some of the food like the prawns and chicken wings. Don’t wear anything tight so you can’t eat it alllll.
I’d come back with a bigger group - at least 4 people so you can order more and share things without overeating the same large plates. It’s on the pricey side, but it’s worth it for these kind...

Let me give you my Ratings on the following:
Food - 4 Star We loved everything food that we ordered from dish 1 until the last dish. Except for the dessert, my honest opinion…
the dessert called “Halo-Halo” is a famous dessert from the Philippines and I was expecting the restaurant to elevate the way of serving it. Unfortunately, it disappointed us when it was served because first, the presentation was not good. Maybe instead of serving it in a big plate bowl just serve it in a nice small bowl because first, there’s not much to see in the bowl aside from the ice cream and the green jelly that adds colour. without the ice cream maybe the dessert can be so overpriced in my opinion. Only 3 slices of green jelly, plus some jackfruit, round jelly (few pieces) and the last is the Pineapple. Pineapple doesn't compliment the Halo Halo as the pineapple is too sour. I feel bad because everything that we ordered was exceptional until the final dish came in, Halo Halo.
Service - 5 ⭐️ the lady receptionist is very welcoming and very accommodating. I can't be more specific as she is very well deserved for the compliment.
They will ask you when you order if you have dietary restrictions which is perfect!
Staff 5 ⭐️ Visit them if you want to experience the awesome team.
Recommendations: Booking is essential during peak hours during lunch and dinner but off pick hours, you can walk in and wait a bit then they will give you a table. Food, I like the chicken glazed, Sweet and sour pork, Fried Rice!!! is ready good. Drinks: Haven't tried any as we both don't drink and we didn't ask for any non-alcoholic bev too.
Overall: Price: $$-$ but worth it to try and come back again Parking: NA Wheelchair: Yes, accessible. Dietary: Yes, available.
Will come back again next time and try...
Read moreThis rating in purely based on how our group was treated by the hosts at this Merivale venue. Clarifying at the start the food was absolutely delicious, the good folks serving the food were great but our dining experienced was RUINED by how the hosts at the venue treated us. The eye-rolling, getting our wait times wrong twice, asking us to sit on wet tables when clearly the dry ones were empty or even expecting us to sit on wet ones, giving us attitude when the party of four was being most polite. I guess they didn’t like the fact that we we told them we had been waiting for 90minutes and not 30 because they weren’t checking their systems for our names. And the first time around when we came back after we waited for an hour as we were told it will take 60-90mins for a table, the hosts tells us…you have only waited for 10mins. We get that it’s Christmas, your venue is “overbooked” (in the words of the host who asked us not to book on the website when we saw the slots because they couldn’t guarantee us slots at the given time if we booked on the website then), you are possibly overwhelmed trying to manage everything. All we excepted was being treated as all the guests are treated at Merivale venues which has been with utmost respect and politely. It was the two female hosts yesterday for the lunch service, no complaints from any other staff. Everyone who served us drinks and...
