(4.5 stars) Just two blocks from Rice & Curry, the same team have opened Kuay Tiew Pochana. Here, in a sunny yellow corner store, the focus is on Thai noodle dishes. We’re seated next to a colourful wall of plastic toys and Thai ingredients. Among them you’ll find boxes of instant noodles and jars of yentafo sauce, which—using red fermented bean curd—turn yen ta fo (Thai pink noodle soup) into its trademark colour. Under a crisp wonton skin, egg noodles overlaid with slices of crispy pork belly and roast pork ($21.90) swim in a clear pork bone broth. Fishcake, pork balls and greens keep your palate interested. You can also eat your noodles dry ($21.90), piled up under a crisp and meaty soft shell crab with hunks of caramelised pork. Flash-fried lime leaves make the sun dried pork ($9) an aromatic and enjoyable addition to any main meal. Called moo dad deaw, the strips of pork are seasoned and sun dried, then finished in the deep fryer. They’re a bit like jerky, only softer and chewier, and great with or without the accompanying tangy chilli sauce. A caddy of sauces—chilli, fish, sugar, and smoky chilli flakes—allow you to balance noodles to your liking. If you accidentally make a hell-broth (easy to do) order a coconut smoothie ($7.90). The oiliness of the mouth-coating coconut drink will gently insulate your tongue. It will also counter the fearsome flecks of dried bird’s eye chilli that stick to pale moons of pork sausage, tiny sticks of celery, and sweet wedges of washed onion in the Vietnamese sausage salad ($18.90). We departed into the cold night feeling alive!

We like the simple menu and individual plates concept. The flavours here are always super punchy too. A go to when you’re craving a super flavourful bowl of noodles. Recommended: - mee ka-ti kung (stir fried vermicelli noodles with prawns and coconut) this dish draws out the fragrance of coconut very beautifully and paired with creaminess of the prawns and brightness / savouriness of pickled garlic makes for an especially interesting meal - creamy tom yum soup with instant noodles and seafood I found this super punchy while staying very well balanced, a great example of creamy tom yum!Topped with fried pork belly, fish cakes, fish balls, mussels, calamari, prawns and a soft egg, it’s very generous, reflective of the extra price.

Warm welcome, cozy vibes, and food that makes you feel right at home! The chicken rice was absolutely delicious, the sauce was amazing, and everything was just perfect. Definitely a MUST TRY! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I also had the Vietnam Rice Noodle, big portion, packed with meat, and such great value for the price. Couldn't stop there, of course, as a Thai noodle fan, I had to try the Yentafo (sweet and sour pink noodle soup). Loved the authentic Thai flavor! The Thai Milk Tea was super tasty too. And funny story... I ended up taking home some Stir-Fried Sweet Pink Noodles for later, couldn't resist! 🤣🤣 Highly recommend this place if you're into flavorful, comforting Asian dishes. Can’t wait to go back!
