I have mixed feelings about this hotel. On one hand, it’s in a cute and quiet neighborhood with its own bar and grill on the ground level. I love the historic nature of the building with all of the trees and birds nearby. There’s a quaint little church just across the street, and open space just outside of the hotel. My rooms were clean, and the shared bathrooms were in decent shape overall. It’s pretty good value for Sydney standards. I appreciated the free glass of beer upon arrival. My biggest complaint is how uncomfortably hot my room was. There’s no AC and the ceiling fan is useless against the heat. It was unbearable and I didn’t sleep well at all. I dreaded going back to my hot room after a long day of walking around. Also, for some reason (I have no idea why) the hotel put me in room 8 for the first two nights and then made me switch to the highly uncomfortable room 6 for the next two nights. It was an awkward deal. I’ve never had that happen before. So strange. The immediate location is nice but the big picture location is not convenient to Sydney harbour and opera house, etc. The public transit system works very well though. You can also walk to Darljng Harbour. I just don’t think I’d stay here again, unfortunately. It appears to me that the owners are absentee and not rolling up their sleeves to get their hands involved in the day to day management. The staff is doing the best they can, but it’s not a good way to run a small hotel business. My opinion, of course.

Hey there! I recently had a wonderful experience at this pub where I went for lunch with my colleagues. To be honest, it was quite a hidden gem, and we all fell in love with the ambiance of the place. The outdoor seating under a huge tree was just perfect, and the breeze made it even better. The food menu was fantastic, and the food tasted incredible! Their burgers were absolutely amazing, and we couldn't get enough of them. However, I felt the chicken was slightly dry and missed the juiciness, but the salads were quite good. And let's not forget the perfectly crisp fries! The service was welcoming and friendly, and the girls had smiles on their faces all the time. The dining area was clean and cosy, making it a great pub to hang out with friends and family. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that I would highly recommend.

Absolutely loved The Lord Wolseley! This old-school gem in inner Sydney is a rare find. The charm and character of the place are unmatched – they simply don’t make pubs like this anymore. The outdoor area is perfect, especially in good weather, providing a relaxed and welcoming vibe that’s hard to beat. One of the best parts? No pokies here – just a genuine, traditional pub experience. If you're after a coffee, head to a café and respect what this establishment stands for. Whether you’re after a casual drink or a hearty pub meal, this spot delivers on all fronts. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is authentic, and the history of the place adds to its unique appeal. A true local treasure!

Quaint, well priced, clean and cosy in a quiet tree lined street. Fantastic location to the city and Darling Harbour. Staff very helpful and friendly. Pub style accommodation. Loved staying here.||I stayed in an ensuite room. It was on the top floor up a number of flights of stairs. I don’t think there is an elevator so you need to be able to climb stairs. There was a double bed, side table, lamp, lounge and single basin. Full length mirror in the room and mirror over hand basin. TV. The room also has windows that can open to let in fresh air. So nice. There’s also a ceiling fan. Not sure about heating or AC, I stayed during winter and was warm enough. ||10 minute walk to Darling Harbour, short Uber drive to anywhere in the city, walking would be no problem either. There is on street paid parking, it has a time limit during certain times. Staff helped me out with this too. ||The restaurant has really great food! I ordered fish for my lunch and it was unbelievable! I was expecting a battere number, then, a whole fresh fish came out with fresh vegetables, so good. Nice little spot to eat outdoors or at the indoor eating area. ||There’s also a kitchenette for use by visitors with a little sitting area with a view! It has tea, coffee, sugar, milk, microwave, sink, fridge. Wasn’t any cutlery for eating with or stirring/adding sugar though. Despite that, how awesome! ||Minuses||The bed was a bit hard, but OK for a night. |Bed linen could be updated. Nearby to a school so if you’re eating your meal outdoors at home time expect to have an audience while you’re eating your meal. |I guess the many stairs if you’re stairs are tricky for you. Wasn’t a negative for me, it just added to...

Nice location but the experience was ruined by the guy behind the bar.

Initially seeming helpful, but told us that there would be a limited menu, which wasn't a problem as what we originally wanted was there and there was a $25 burger and schooner deal on. Ordered burger, schooner, and a few other food & drink and returned to the table. Realised quickly that we were overcharged the price of a beer, so went in and politely asked if we were charged for the special. The bartender said "no, you didn't specify". I said, nicely, "well it was on the menu, so.." and then he said "well I'm not going to give you change because you didn't specify, that's life, c'est la vie" and then grabbed keys off the bar and stormed off into the back. Interaction finished - message received: you don't like repeat customers.

When the food finally arrived my girlfriend's plate was missing her sauce (sauce was specified on the menu) and when she asked for it the same guy said "uhhh, maybe" and then went back inside. 5 minutes later I went in and asked for the sauce again, since he had just returned to chatting with the girl sat at the bar. He said "I'll ask the chef and bring it out" in a huff. He finally came out and dropped the aioli on the table with a sarcastic "here we are team".

Just a really strange, unpleasant experience when I don't think it needed to be at all, and it's a shame with such a nice location and interesting decor.

Chicken burger wasn't great either (chicken overcooked, batter was dark brown & dry) but it...
