It was a very disappointing experience at Ramen Shogun tonight. My partner and I cane with our dog for dinner and waited 30-45mins for a table.
When we first arrived, we’ve listed our names on the waiting list and made a note that we have a dog. After waiting for 5-10mins, the Staff called our name and made a shrugging movement and gestured to our dog and said outside. I said oh yes that’s fine, we’re happy to wait and sit outside but how long will the wait be? She replied 15mins or so. We continued waiting and eventually can see the diners outside were finished but was just chatting away. By then we were waiting for 30+ mins so we spoke to the Staff and asked is there any other way we can dine in and their response was to wait.
Whilst I understand that pets can only be outside, I would’ve appreciated if the Staff gave us a more accurate wait time estimate e.g. if they’ve only just been served; we know it’s not possible for them to finish in 15mins. Additionally other resolutions could’ve been provided e.g. additional table/chair setup outside or letting the diners know that there are other guests waiting. When we eventually left, there were even more people waiting to dine in with only 30mins before their offical close time as listed on Google Maps.
It’s a shame because we have been wanting to try this place...
Read moreThe restaurant has a cozy vibe with Japanese decorations on the walls, which also created a nice atmosphere. My friends and I walked here from Central station, which was only around a 15-minute walk. I came with 2 friends, and we ordered the Miso Ramen, Karai Tonkotsu Ramen, and Beef curry Udon + drinks. It is priced similarly to other restaurants with the same cuisine, around $18-19, and the portions are good. My friends were full after they finished their meal. However, I eat a bit more than the average person, so the portion wasn't fully enough for me. The broth was very flavourful, and the noodles were cooked to the right bounciness. They do also have extra chilli sauce, soy sauce, and some other items available on the table so you can adjust the flavour if needed. Overall, the ramen was very delicious. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the food was prepared pretty quickly as well. We came around 7:30 on a Monday and it wasn't too busy, but when we were finished with our meal and were leaving, the restaurant was pretty full. It is a smaller sized...
Read moreA comforting bowl of ramen served alongside crispy shrimp tempura and juicy gyoza makes for a truly satisfying Japanese meal. The ramen is rich and deeply flavorful, with broth that’s been simmered to perfection—whether it’s soy-based, miso, or creamy tonkotsu. The noodles are firm yet springy, soaking up all the goodness of the soup, while classic toppings like soft-boiled egg, sliced pork, and green onions add both heartiness and depth. Paired with it, the shrimp tempura offers a light, crispy texture with a delicate batter that enhances rather than overwhelms the natural sweetness of the shrimp. A quick dip in tempura sauce adds just the right touch of umami. Completing the meal are the gyoza—golden on the outside, soft and juicy on the inside, filled with a savory mix of pork, garlic, and chives. Each element brings something unique, but together they create a perfect harmony of flavors and textures that’s comforting, flavorful, and full...
